Trs – „Vine“

Vine is ideal accommodation unit for a couple or a family with one or two children. It is located on the ground floor of villa Smrikve and its position and marble floor make its temperature comfortable also during the summer period.

The living room is characterized by furniture from the beginning of the 20th century that in one part has marks from the damage it suffered during the WWII. Its style belongs to the late Austro-Hungarian Monarchy period. The kitchen angle form part of the living room and the bathroom access is located in the living room area too. The satellite TV and wireless connection are the modernity elements of this early 20th century styled accommodation unit.

If you observe with attention the paintings you may note the difference between the living room and the sleeping room. On purpose in the living room is dominant Istrian land motif on paintings where the vine is grown while in the sleeping room are dominant paintings with sea motif. The sea characterizes the area from where the Istrian Malvazija was brought into Istria.

The traditional style of the sleeping room furniture dates back in the middle of the 20th century period and is made of combination of prestigious woods. Its clean and classical design contain elements that last over time as you may note by observing few pictures in Trs photo gallery.

Trs means vine in English and Istrian wine was famous during the Roman Empire, Venetian Republic period and today as you can learn from „Istria from Smrikve“ cultural E-book. An excellent Malvazija is traditionally made by our family for our friends. A row of vine was taken out to create space for the first Smrikve tennis court, where traditionally the Smrikva Bowl finals are played.

Ulika – „Olive“

Ulika accommodation unit is ideal apartment for a big family or even two families can be hosted in it. It is located on the top floor of villa Smrikve and its particularity is that of being a mansard. Its position makes the terrace view towards tennis courts, vineyards and olive trees nice and relaxing.

The furniture selected to equip this apartment is modern compared to Smrikva and Trs thus characterize the new Istrian olive oil maker families. The over 2000 years tradition of excellent olive oil making in Istria was rediscovered about 20 years ago and the equipment of Ulika symbolize the current families that take care of the excellence of the Istrian olive oil.

The satellite TV, wireless connection, and air-conditioning represent other elements of modernity.

If you observe with attention the paintings you may note that all the majority of paintings use the sea motive. The sea in Ulika unit symbolizes the Mediterranean Sea.

During the Roman Empire period there was a say that where the olive tree stop growing there also the civilization stop. It was the period when the civilization was concentrated around the Mediterranean Sea. For our fortune today the civilization is spread in many different parts of the Globe.

Ulika means olive in English and Istrian olive oil, the same as wine, was very famous during the Roman Empire as you can learn from „Istria from Smrikve“ cultural E-book. Olive oil is also important today and considered among the best in the World. Every year during the Smrikva Bowl our little Ambassadors from all over the World plant an old olive tree as symbol of intergenerational responsibility.
