Smrikva Bowl Dream... a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away...

Smrikva Bowl mission is to inspire, develop and spread cosmopolitan values. Love, friendship and empathy are cosmopolitan values per excellence for people and humanity…

CULTURE, CHILDREN, SPORT and MUSIC are part of the Smrikva Bowl idea of the cosmopolitan world. It is a matter of civilization …

A wise wind, product of imagination, once whispered… “Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.” (M.Y.)… and fairy tales seems to help that beauty…

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” (A.E.)…

Usually in tennis game it does not matter what goes wrong but your reaction to it…

Fear and anger are for the brain the same as cramps for the muscles… and as Yoda noted “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”… like in tennis, so similar seems to be life…

There are different ways to look at sport. There are different ways to look at music, culture, love and also to children.

The vision of sport preferred in Smrikve can be described and extended to: culture, music and children using the following Nelson Mandela – Madiba’s words:

“Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire and the power to unite people in a way little else can – it is an instrument of peace.”

… a wise men living in China 2500 years ago once observed… “To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must cultivate our personal life; and to cultivate our personal life, we must first set our hearts right.” … and to set your heart right you need good characters… those who wish to contribute to the greater public good had to begin by working on themselves…

…only then they will see progress radiate out from their personal circles to society at large…

Spring is at the door... nature awakens... and soon the 22nd Smrikva Bowl 2017 tennis talents generation will be known... :)

In 2005, for the 10th Smrikva Bowl anniversary, we started a tradition of planting an Olive tree…

… in many countries the olive tree is a symbol of peace… while the age of the Smrikva Bowl olive tree is a symbol of intergenerational responsibility…

… every person is born without knowing anything about life on this earth and it is the responsibility of every generation to try to understand and to learn to preserve all that each of us is born with…

… the spring moment when nature wakes up… is also the moment when the new Smrikva Bowl generation will be identified… and to me it is a nice moment to recall the story of the circle of life… :)

AMBASSADORS’ OLD OLIVE TREE AND THE CIRCLE OF LIFE…

The Lion King cartoon is an artwork and most of the life messages one can find in it are in line with the Smrikva Bowl. They are in line with the message of the Ambassadors’ Olive Tree; they are in line with the values of friendship and love; they are in line with empathy. Love, friendship and empathy are all Cosmopolitan values per excellence, as far as people and humanity are concerned.

The relationship between Mufasa, Sarabi and Simba reminds me of both: parents and family love, but also about the intergenerational responsibility.

Timon, Pumbaa and Simba relationship reminds me about love between friends. Pumbaa also make me think about empathy, intuition and loyalty. The relationship between Simba and Nola reminds me again about the importance of love. Rafiki, the wise old baboo, with his many centuries old tree reminds me about the importance of knowledge and experience of the older.

There are many other particular moments that every person on its own, based on his or her own life experience, discover by watching these artworks.

You might be interested to know that most of the characters’s names in this cartoon have a particular meaning in Swahili language: Simba means “lion”; Nala means “gift”, and love is for me one of the greatest gifts that people can receive and give during their life; Sarabi means “mirage”; Pumbaa means “dull-witted” or “stunned”; and Rafiki means “friend” :). These names with their meanings make me think of the American Indians and the way they used to give the names to their people.

Every person is born without knowing anything about life on this earth and it is the responsibility of every generation to understand and to learn, to preserve all that each of us is born with.

When Mufasa was explaining to Simba that is not easy to be the King… a good King should know that everything around us lives in a delicate equilibrium and with intelligence we should try to understand it and respect it.

The intergenerational responsibility alone will allow future generations to enjoy the beauty of life, the sunsets and the seasons of the earth. Enjoy the circle of life.

“The future is always in a minority. Yet the history of the future is more important than the history of the past. It is for the old to remember the past. It is for the young to build the world of tomorrow…”

Everything around us lives in a delicate equilibrium and with intelligence we should try to understand it and respect it. It is true that every generation face new challenges but there are many examples in the past how the old generations managed and solved particular problems and this is why knowledge, human curiosity and will to learn are important.

Smrikva Bowl Library story and the spring... JRL once said... "books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind..." ;)

22nd Smrikva Bowl 2017 generation will be selected in less than 30 days… and today I will be pleased to recall a story that is linked to the books and the title of today… linked to the books but also to our players who bring them to their Smrikva Bowl… :)

…it is the story of heritage… but as written in the title… it is again a story related to the spring via pollen … but this time is a kind of mind pollen… ;)…

James Russell Lowell compared books to the bees and I like it… “books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind…”

In 2009 we started the building of the Smrikva Bowl library. Each Smrikva Bowl player is requested to bring with him a cultural book that will remember his stay in Smrikve and will represent his culture of origin that one day guests of Smrikve will be able to consult, enjoy and discover.

Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors are today spread in 78 countries and all the continents. Historically their task was to search the talented kids in their countries of origin and invite them to play the Smrikva Bowl but from this year they are also our Cultural Ambassadors.

The old olive tree Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors plant every year is a symbol of friendship and intergenerational responsibility and Smrikva Bowl’s idea of children, sport, music and culture that are able to pass all frontiers are incorporated in the creation of this Smrikva Bowl Library.

I used to write in my first book on European Union and Cosmopolitan Democracy that we are those who represent the current civilization.

This is an important concept. Today people live an average of about 80 years. What we call civilization is mostly made up of the human knowledge we have accumulated until today, which our institutions pass onto future generations.

The books represent the greatest human memory that can help us understand what we see combined with cumulated personal experience of our daily lives. But given the fragility of the circle of life it is very easy for people to ignore these facts and lose sight of our human knowledge. It takes just a few generations to lose this great heritage.

We have gotten used to rapid technological progress, but social and civil progress is slower and more complex. Humans learn throughout their whole lifetime, from books and schools, but we also mostly learn from our personal experiences.

Smrikva Bowl mission is to develop and spread cosmopolitan values. Love, friendship and empathy are cosmopolitan values per excellence for people and humanity…

The Smrikve c Code story... is a story about virtue developed by training and wish to learn...

Smrikve c Code was created years ago…

The birth of this article was inspired by the Smrikva Bowl kids’ ability to use rackets and the Star Wars knights to use their lightsabers…

It is a kid’s story about virtue created by long hours spent in training and wish to learn… day after day… year after year… decade after decade…

Smrikve, October 2010

The Star Wars “Return of the Jedi” is the first film I remember seeing with my dad at the cinema… it was 1983 and I was 10… the cinema was named “Istra”… I was the same age as the Smrikva Bowl players we host every year in Smrikve :)…

In the introduction of this article I would just underline that I like the way Jedi use the lightsabers and I like the way Smrikva Bowl kids use their rackets :)… Smrikve c Code is a story about virtue created by training and wish to learn…

My dad was pilot and for me watching The Star Wars with him at the cinema was a particular experience … I had many questions and he, as usual, with smile and pleasure answered to each of my questions…

Dad used to take me with him on the airport when I was little… and I remember him entering the cockpit of the plane with pilot helmet watching towards me and giving me the sign that he was ready to fly… than he turned on the engine of the plane and watched towards me again with smile in his eyes…

I stayed about 100 meters from the airplane with his colleagues and watched him taking his plane towards runway…

From the place where I stayed only part of the runway was visible because of the wood and he took the plane in the area that was invisible to me to prepare for the takeoff… I was able to hear the force of the engine… and when the sound of the force started to increase I knew that my dad will be visible soon… his colleagues were telling me “be ready soon your dad will come”… and when he started to be visible on the back of the plane there was the fire… almost half length of the airplane had the fire extension formed by his engine and I just noticed his helmet in the cockpit and followed by my kids eyes his airplane reaching the sky…

The Jedi are characters in the Star Wars universe bound to a code of morality and justice and are trained in the use of the light side of the force. They learn to use the Force, and weapons, known as lightsabers, which emits a controlled energy flow in the shape of a sword, to serve and protect their Republic and the galaxy from conflicts or government instability…

Since long time ago I started to note the ability of Smrikva Bowl kids using the racket and thinking at the same time on Jedi’s ability to use the lightsaber :)…

Some of my students use Wilson’s ying & young damper… known as Tao sign… they like the symbol but are still too young to have an idea about it ;)… I will try to use this symbol to help me explain how little the difference could be in forming a balance in anything we do… every action has a reaction in our World… in the first classes of physics we learn Newton’s third law…

Tao is an abstract concept found in Taoism, Confucianism, and more generally in ancient Chinese philosophy and East Asian cultures.

While the word itself translates as “way”, “path”, or “route”… it is often used philosophically to signify the fundamental nature of the World we are used to living on Earth… it is often referred to as “the nameless”, because neither it nor its principles can ever be adequately expressed in words.

While the Tao cannot be expressed, Taoism holds that it can be known, and its principles can be followed. Much of Taoist writing focuses on the value of following the Tao – called Te (virtue) – and of the ultimate uselessness of trying to understand or control Tao outright. This is often expressed through yin and yang arguments, where every action creates a counter-action as a natural, unavoidable movement within manifestations of the Tao.

I used the above short explenation to introduce the Codes used in the Star Wars universe…

As in the Tao symbol there were knights trained to use the dark side of the force and the light side… this is the way how mankind functioned since the human written memory goes back…

For new ideas people have to go beyond… out of the known patterns by using their imagination… the kids are many times Master in this…

“Truly wonderful the mind of a child is.”… :)

• Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
• Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.

"La Bottega di Smrikve" pupil Tara visiting Rome and playing Lemon Bowl :D

This week Tara, “La Bottega di Smrikve” pupil, had the opportunity to visit Rome and gain another valuable experience playing Lemon Bowl… a tournament established back in 1985… there were over 180 girls who competed in her under 12 age group… and in total over 1200 players played the event starting with pre qualification draws on 10th of December…

Many Lemon Bowl top players played Smrikva Bowl over the years and it was a pleasure to meet several players there competing in older age groups…

…after playing in Slovenia couple of times Tara had the opportunity to visit another country and see Rome thanks to her racket passport & day after day passion dedicate to her her tennis talent development :)…

… New Penta 2000 Club host the event… and has many clay courts and several indoor artificial grass courts… and Tara had the opportunity to play on both…

… with beautiful winter sun over Rome… Taki reached the victory and entered among TOP 16 players out of over 180 in her age group…

… the match was scheduled for the early afternoon… and after streching we grab the opportunity to celebrate the day and go to see a bit of Rome… “la citta’ eterna”… :D

… beautiful “Oltare della Patria”… with “horses” as Shifu likes to call them :D…. and then more and more curiosities to see… it was so difficult to leave and park somewhere our car :))…

… and more and more to see… and get surprised… “Grande Roma”… “come sei bella”… Antonello Venditi would say… and we agree ;)…

… and there is so much to see driving with the car around… this is what Shifu call… an alien spaceship :)… beautiful and amazing exhibition place… we later learned it was “La Nuvola”… so impressive and nice…

… the second day… had a bit of rain and wind… and the schedule was uncertain… but we grab some time to drive till the sea… Ostia… very windy day…

… and the bad weather made the change of the schedule and the impossibility to play on clay outdoor so Taki played for the first time on syntetic grass indoor… with a very talented girl from Genova Vittoria Gibello…

… the initial lead Taki created was not sufficient to win the match that day… there were several balls very closed to the lines but with no possibility to check the marks the momentum changed… overall it was another great experience playing with very competitive Vittoria…

… happy with the experience… there were still many things to see… especially Fontana di Trevi was a must :)… Tara liked a lot how Toto’ sold it in the movie and she wish to see it ;)… and here we are nearby Quiriniale… the place were Italian President lives… the place you can see almost every day in Italian daily TV news…

… and behind us there is “Cupolone” as Venditti sing in one of his songs… Vatican… San Pietro…

Greetings from Smrikve... Sve najljepše... Auguri 2017

Dear Smrikve friends,

It is greetings time… time to stay with loved ones… time to recall moments of the gone year… and time to think about new destinations and dreams to full fill that may bring joy and energy to each of us and our loved ones…

… for years I kept believing that Smrikva Bowl kids and families will write by example stories that will inspire generations to come… and is easy to foresee that our seeds will collect the most prestigious trophies in tennis… and more than one will write the name on the stars reserved to the Legends, but not only…

21st Smrikva Bowl edition is behind us… and 1700 Smrikva Bowl seeds are spread in 78 countries…

They conquered a total of 23 junior GRAND SLAM titles… 14 professional ATP/WTA titles… 2 players reached TOP 10 ATP/WTA ranking… and in prestige under 12, 14, 18 tournaments around the World there is always someone who reach the end of the Draws…

To have a dream is nice… but to have people who dream with you is even more nice… and for them we are always special simply by the way we are…

Thanks to all those who keep visiting Smrikve… bringing news… inviting friends to visit us… and my heart is smirking knowing that there are more and more players and families which in their dreams keep a little piece of Smrikve ;)….

We do our best to keep improving in different directions… and among others we upgraded some of our accommodation units this year again, but not only…

Long time ago we started to prepare 3rd Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week (SBTTFW) 2017… scheduled for 22nd – 29th of April… which is expected to be again a great development week guided by Luca Appino, credited for signing contracts with Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, Dinara Safina, Carolina Wozniacki (all of them scouted when they were far away from becoming #1)…

Preparations for the 22nd Smrikva Bowl 2017 edition started the day after the 21st annual finals and is expected to be another great annual… as of November there were already talents who presented their candidacy representing almost all the continents (only Antarctica is missing)…another good year is envisaged ;)…

I hope several Smrikva seeds will play prestige and traditional international tournaments (ETA, ITF, ATP) in Istria in 2017… this will be an opportunity to smile together in Smrikve…

… and one last thing… this year our olive trees made a lot of fruit… I hope next year some of you may think of joining us during collection days… to me collecting olives is a magic and relaxing moment… there are olive trees planted since 2005 by our little Ambassadors with over thousands names… and this year if each kid was with us to help there would be couple of kg for each to collect ;)…

Prosinac je vrijeme čestitanja… vrijeme želja… vrijeme koje rado provodimo uz svoje najbliže… i vrijeme je za prisjetiti se godine koja prolazi… a i trenutak za razmisliti o novim željama i putevima kojima krenuti koji mogu donijeti radosti i energije svakome od nas i onima koji su nam blizu…

… dugi niz godina vjerujem da djeca Smrikve, uz svoje obitelji, imaju prilike zapisati priče koje će primjerom nadahnuti generacije koje dolaze… i sve je lakše razaznati da će prikupiti najznačajnije trofeje u svijetu tenisa… i više njih upisati svoje ime na zvjezdama rezerviranim za Legende, ali i više od toga…

21. Smrikva Bowl je iza nas… i sjeme Smrikve broji 1700 talenata raširenih u 78 zemalja…

Već danas posjeduju impresivan životopis… 23 juniorske GRAND SLAM titule… 14 profesionalnih ATP/WTA titula… 2 igrača je dostiglo TOP 10 ATP/WTA ranking… i zadnjih godina svaki najprestižniji turnir u svijetu do 12, 14 ili 18 godina uvijek ima poneko dijete Smrikve u završnici ždrijeba…

Sanjati je lijepo… ali imati ljude koji sanjaju uz tebe je još ljepše jer za najbliže koji uz nas sanjaju smo često posebni jednostavno onakvi kakvi jesmo…

Hvala svima koji nas posjećuju… donose vijesti… dovode svoje prijatelje… i srce mi se smješi znajući da ima puno djece koja u svojim snovima nose jedan mali dio Smrikve ;)…

Trudimo se biti vrijedni u svakom pogledu kao i naši mališani… tako smo i ove godine u Smrikvama napravili poneko poboljšanje u više smještajnih jedinica, ali ne samo to…

Duže vrijeme se radi na pripremi Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week (SBTTFW) 2017 koji će se održati od 22.-29. travnja… jedno razvojno iskustvo uz prijatelja Luku Appina, kojem se pripisuje otrivanje igrača poput Rafaela Nadala, Andy Roddicka, Kim Clijsters, Dinare Safina, Caroline Wozniacki dok su bili daleko od broja 1 na svijetu…

Isto tako 22. Smrikva Bowl-u 2017. je u punom jeku pripremanja… već na početku studenog su skoro svi kontinenti kandidaturama talenata bili predstavljeni (fali samo predstavnik Antarktika)… tako da se očekuje još jedna dobra godina…

Nadam se da će više djece Smrikve zaigrati poneki od prestižnih i tradicionalnih turnira (ETA, ITF, ATP) u Istri tijekom 2017.te pa da se možda i vidimo u Smrikvama…

… i za kraj… da ne zaboravim :)… ove godine su masline posebno dobro rodile… i želja mi je pozvati vas na berbu sljedeće godine… berba je uvijek poseban trenutak… trenutak mira i inspiracije… više je posebnih maslina koje rastu u Smrikvama od 2005.godine koje nose preko 1000 imena djece Smrikve… i da su ove godine svi došli nam pomoći bilo bi za svakoga par kila malsina za ubrati ;)…

… da anni credo che i ragazzi dello Smrikva Bowl scriveranno storie che ispireranno con l’esempio le nuove generazioni… ed e’ sempre piu’ facile scorgere che collezioneranno prestigiosi trofei nel tennis… e piu’ di uno scriverra’ il proprio nome sulle stelle riservate alle Legende, ma non solo…

21.esima edizione e’ dietro di noi… e 1700 semi dello Smrikva sono sparsi in 78 paesi…

Questi ragazzi hanno collezionato un totale di 23 titoli juniores negli GRANDE SLAM… 16 titoli professionali ATP/WTA… 2 sono entrati in TOP 10 ATP/WTA… ed in tornei prestigiosi under 12,14,18 nel Mondo c’e sempre qualcuno che arriva alla fine del tabellone…

Avere un sogno e’ bello… ed avere la gente che sogna insieme a noi e’ ancora piu’ bello perche’ per loro siamo noi stessi speciali semplicemente cosi’ come siamo…

Grazie a tutti che ci visitano… portano notizie… e continuano a portare nuovi amici… mi ride il cuore sapendo che ci sono sempre di piu’ coloro che portano dentro i loro sogni un piccolo pezzetino di Smrikve ;)…

Si lavora da tempo per il 3. Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week (SBTTFW) 2017 che si terra’ tra il 22. ed il 29. Aprile 2017… sarra’ una settimana di studio-crescita guidata dall’amico Luca Appino, al quale va il credito d’aver firmato giocatori come Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, Dinara Safina, Carolina Wozniacki (scoperti quando erano molto lontani dal diventare #1 nel mondo)

22.esima edizione dello Smrikva Bowl 2017 e’ in fase di preparazione dal giorno dopo la finale della 21.esima edizione… e dall’inizio novembre abbiamo quasi tutti i continenti gia’ rappresentati (manca solo l’Antarctica)… si attende un’altra grande annata di talenti…

Spero diversi sceglieranno di giocare tornei internazionali (ETA, ITF, ATP) di prestigio del 2017 in Istria per rivedersi a Smrikve…

…e l’ultima cosa… dimenticavo… quest’anno gli ulivi hanno fruttato cosi’ tanto che l’anno prossimo vi invito alla raccolta :D… per me la raccolta e’ sempre un momento magico e di relax… ci sono diversi ulivi speciali piantati dal 2005 ad oggi che portano oltre mille nomi dei nostri Ambasciatori… e quest’anno se venivano tutti i ragazzi ad aiutarci nella raccolta ci sarebbe stato per ciascuno un paio di chili di ulive da raccogliere ;)…

IMG’s Miomir Kecmanovic tries to solidify top ranking with Herr title

The IMG Academy senior regrouped after dropping his first set of the Eddie Herr Junior Championships.

Miomir Kecmanovic wasn’t even 9 years old the first time Miro Hrvatin had a chance to see him. The rising Serbian tennis star was in Hrvatin’s home of Pula, Croatia, for the 2008 Smrikva Bowl and the 8-year-old won a match as the field’s No. 4 seed.

It wasn’t until a few years later — Hrvatin can’t pinpoint exactly when — that the coach became convinced about Kecmanovic’s future success. Hrvatin estimates Kecmanovic was 12 or 13 when he came back to Pula simply to train with Hrvatin.

Kecmanovic was drawn by the seaside town and the training he had grown familiar with through his annual trips to the Smrikva Bowl. He wanted Hrvatin to push him.

It was the conditioning drills that finally got to Kecmanovic, Hrvatin remembered. Kecmanovic complained and complained, so Hrvatin asked him why he was there.

“If I have to become No. 1 in the world, I have to do it,” Hrvatin, who now coaches Kecmanovic full time, recalls the student telling him.

“That was pretty amazing for a kid,” Hrvatin said.

Five years later, Kecmanovic is there. The IMG Academy student sits atop the International Tennis Federation’s junior rankings, and he has a chance to add another significant junior title to his collection Sunday. Kecmanovic will face Canada’s Benjamin Sigouin, the No. 2 seed, in the final of the Eddie Herr International Championships at IMG Academy. Kecmanovic dropped his first set of the Eddie Herr on Saturday before regrouping to beat Turkey’s Ergi Kirkin, the No. 12 seed, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

The boys match will follow the girls, which begins at 9 a.m. in Bradenton. Sixth-seeded Varvara Gracheva, of Russia, will face Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle, the No. 12 seed, in the girls final. The girls doubles championship was decided Saturday when Croatia’s Lea Boskovic and Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan teamed to beat Mexico’s Maria Jose Portillo Ramirez and the United States’ Sofia Sewing, 7-6, 6-3.

Kecmanovic, though, is the big draw this weekend. Since his surprise win at the Orange Bowl in Plantation last year, the 17-year-old has surged to the top of the rankings. He won last month at the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano in Mexico City and during the summer at the Prince George’s County International Hard Court Junior Tennis Championship in Maryland. He reached the finals of the Osaka Mayor’s Cup in Japan and the junior U.S. Open in New York. He has played in nine futures tournaments on the ITF Men’s Circuit, reaching the finals of the USA F14 in Boca Raton.

“He’s growing day by day,” Hrvatin said. “His skills are already like a professional’s. His hand is very, very fast and getting faster day by day.”

Kecmanovic was fortunate to find tennis success at the time the sport’s popularity was exploding in Serbia. He began playing at 6 when the sport still possessed niche status in his hometown of Belgrade, but in 2011 the boom came. Serbia’s Novak Djokovic ascended to No. 1 in the world with a win at Wimbledon. The clubs Kecmanovic played at started to become more tightly packed with young players who took up the sport in Djokovic’s shadow.

“A lot of people started playing tennis now because of him,” Kecmanovic said. “As soon as he hit No. 1 it just skyrocketed.”

He bounced between clubs and coaches around Belgrade throughout his childhood before finding a permanent home in Florida four years ago. He joined the Ascenders with his sights set on a No. 1 ranking, and last December the academy helped him break through.

He was the No. 9 seed at last year’s Orange Bowl, a relative long shot to get the biggest win of his career in one of the top junior fields. His path to victory, though, was dominant. He lost two sets the entire week and earned a three-set win against Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas on a tiebreak in the championship.

“Even I didn’t believe that I can win at first,” Kecmanovic said. “When I won it gave me a lot more confidence to know that I could play big tournaments and win.”

The win, Kecmanovic said, put him over the hump. Playing deep into tournaments has given him a chance to study top players and make constant improvements to his game. Hrvatin said the biggest difference is the speed of Kecmanovic’s hands — he now has a blistering serve, which plays well with his baseline-centric style.

He added one trophy to his collection Saturday when he and Sigouin beat Americans Govind Nanda and Alexandre Rotsaert, 6-0, 6-1, in the doubles championship. On Sunday, at the place he now calls home, he can complete a sweep — another first in a year full of them for Kecmanovic.

“He’s playing very good,” Hrvatin said. “He’s reached one level that’s a very good level for him at the moment and every match it gets higher.”

Last week end the 18th International Tennis Symposium was held at Centro Pavesi in Milan (Italy) promoted by Pro Camp MGM Italia, UISP and GPTCA

I spent this week end at Centro Pavesi in Milan participating the 18th International Tennis Symposium… as per tradition the Symposium gathered many interesting speakers and it was again an opportunity to learn something new…

This year the event was promoted by Pro CAMP MGMG Italia and sponsored again by UISP (Unione Italiana Sport per tutti) and GPTCA (Global Professional Tennis Coach Association)…

After the welcome word of the Symposium president Mr. Massimo Rossi over the weekend many speakers shared their experience with the group

Alberto CASTELLANI, Patricio REMONDEGUI, Javier DUARTE, Fabrizio SENATORE, Elena CASIRAGHI, Maurizio RAPELLINI, Oriana AMATA, Gianluca CARBONE, Jose PERLAS…

The main theme was “HOW TO WORK ON THE COURT TO DEVELOP OUR YOUNG PLAYERS”…

The first topic presented was “The shots practice and biomechanical analysis”… and was presented by Patricio REMONDEGUI…

Patricio REMONDEGUI helped Robin KERN in his tennis growth… and Robin played Smrikva Bowl in 2002 … Giulia LAMBIASE is another of his students and Giulia also played Smrikva… and over the weekend he presented some of the common elements in executing shots at ATP & WTA level…

The following topic was presented by Javier DUARTE…“Difference between coaching a top 10 tennis player with bringing a player to the top 10 level”

Javier Duarte Rocca has a very long coaching experience… his students won 36 ATP titles, played 3 Grand Slam finals, won Master of Hannover in 2008… and he was the first co-captain of the Spanish team to win Davis Cup… and 3 years technical director of the Spanish Tennis Federation….

Alex Corretja, Alberto Berasategui, Tommy Robredo and Albert Costa are some of his most prominent alumni… and his lessons included many example of his time with them together with some tips of the so called Spanish tennis teaching method…

Javier continued in the afternoon explaining some examples with on court exercises… and before his afternoon lesson Elena CASIRAGHI was showing some very important elements related with nutrition and importance of it to give to the player the possibility to restore his competition capacity in the best possible manner…

Elena was followed by Javier DUARTE with his afternoon on court class… another very interesting and intense exposition… famous “cubos” work followed by the coach on the net work…

It was a pleasure for all…

At the end of the day Fabrizio SENATORE and Maurizio RAPELLINI gave some very interesting scientific and statistical details related to modern tennis…

The second day started with short introduction made by Oriana AMATA who presented a research which shows the current studies about the impact of tennis towards vertebral column… very interesting…

… her presentation was followed by Gianluca CARBONE about the concept of Awareness in tennis… another very interesting presentation… having again focus on Spanish method with Carbone dedicated several years to study….

… the second day had another important Spanish school representative… Jose PERLAS who presented his coaching experience…

I am pleased to list only some of the most prominent alumni of Jose PERLAS which might be familiar to many people in tennis such as: Carlos MOYA, Albert COSTA, Guillermo CORIA, Juan Carlos FERRERO, Janko TIPSAREVIC, Nicolas ALMAGRO, Fabio FOGNINI… Javier SANCHEZ, Tomas CARBONELL, Carlos COSTA, Albert PORTAS, Feliciano LOPEZ; Jacob DIAZ, Fernando VICENTE…. in addition was part of the Spanish Davis Cup team for many years…

It was a very interesting presentation… with many interesting human details behind each coaching experience shared… and also his presentation had on court presentation… with some prominent young tennis players such as Federico ARNABOLDI, winner of this year Avvenire…

It was another Symposium “good year”… :)
