Four years of "Istria from Smrikve"... and First Appino International Championship Talent Detection 2013 for U10 and U12

7th of March 2013, Smrikve

Dear travellers, book readers and Smrikve tennis friends,

On 26th of March 2009, “Istria from Smrikve” virtual book was published on line with aim to attract travellers in my native Region… AND…

WHY THIS LETTER TODAY?...

It is the World Book Day… actually the World Book Day is a yearly event celebrated worldwide on 23rd of April, but in the United Kingdom is celebrated on first Thursday in March.

“Istria from Smrikve” is in English… and today my grandfather Mate would celebrated 94 years… without his decision to move his family to Smrikve also Istria from Smrikve would have not been written… thus I decided to take the opportunity of the British Day of the Book to share few relevant updates related to the book and ALSO few general spring news from Smrikve for the young tennis fans :)...

Over the last four years over 500.000 people visited “Istria from Smrikve”. This E-book is ALL about culture… written for travellers… where you can find information about places, music, cuisine, olive oil, wine, people, events, museums… described in 600 virtual pages, with over 2000 pictures, 30 old town maps… and over 120 selected videos of places and families worth visiting in Istria…

The initial database featured 200 TOP restaurants, olive oil and wine producers has grown into over 300. 100 families have already created nice websites and today you can visit most of them through “permanent exhibition” recently created on “Istria from Smrikve”... you can find them as recommended place to stay, wine or olive oil to taste, restaurant or event to attend…

“Istria from Smrikve” is NOT a commercial website but a real option and keeps being promoted by word of mouth…

A bit more than 200,000 inhabitants, lovely hilltops, beautiful nature, crystal blue sea, excellent food, olive oil, outstanding wine, many towns and villages inhabited for over 3000 years. This is in very few words what my E-book is about :)...

ISTRIA from SMRIKVE virtual book

A nice working week at "La Bottega" with Andjela, Dasha, Silvia, Aria and Max...

O yes… this is Dasha… with “šapka”... some days are still cold while other days already look like the spring days…

During the week Dasha and Andjela had the opportunity to play a sparing match…

... while Andjela was focusing on some details during the whole week it was an opportunity to exchange few balls…

... on Saturday morning Max, Silvia and Ari played with Andjela… this was for Andjela the conclusion practice of her week and the opportunity to put in practice little details we paid attention during the week…

... and for the end just one nice picture of flying Dasha taken the same morning… :)...

Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction...

Today… in many countries around the World the LOVe Day is celebrated… and I like to dedicate every year few words to this particular FORCE :)…

Smrikva Bowl mission has always been dedicated towards spreading the cosmopolitan values… and LOVe, friendship and empathy are among those values per excellence…

… today it is still hard to imagine what kind of beauty the Smrikva Bowl seeds around the World will be able to create…

... they are growing… like growing seeds of the tennis of tomorrow.. spread in 57 countries and all the continents…

The title of today article… was borrowed from a quote of Antonine de Saint- Exupéry… the author of the Little Prince book… and is dedicated to THE FORCE… we like to name “LOVe”... and I like to think of it as… the ”eVOLve”… :)

… very powerful force but can also be very painful force… from time to time…

THE LITTLE PRINCE...by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry… is a very special book that every person at different age read differently.

It is a book that last over time and was likely the last love gift Antoine de Saint-Exupéry made to his wife Consuelo de Saint-Exupéry.

Over time this book was translated into many different languages thus become a love gift for many generations around the world.

It is a children’s book written for the older… and I like many parts of it… especially the description that Antoine make of the adult people… the description of the moment when the rose was born… the importance of the right orders on the King’s planet… “you never know” statement… the meeting with the wise fox… the smiling stars and many other parts…

… and just one more thing… Only best friends, when they trust each other, do share their deep knowledge… and once The Little Prince and the fox created such a special relationship the fox shared a secret with him…

... “One only understands the things that one tames,” said the fox…

... “What must I do, to tame you?” asked the little prince.

“You must be very patient,” replied the fox. “First you will sit down at a little distance from me – like that – in the grass. I shall look at you out of the corner of my eye, and you will say nothing. Words are the source of misunderstandings. But you will sit a little closer to me, every day…”

... and when Little Prince come back to say goodbye the fox shared a little secret with him…

... “Goodbye,” said the fox. “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

“What is essential is invisible to the eye,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”

... ”... You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose…”

“I am responsible for my rose,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry believed in the title of today’s article that: “Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction”...

…whatever he thought with that say… I like it… ;)

Andjela Skrobonja, Smrikva Bowl girl, joined "La Bottega" few days ago... and Dasha had the opportunity to play with Veronika Erjavec - one of the best under 14 players from Slovenia

Over the last days Smrikve there were few high quality tennis talents on the courts…

Dasha keep doing her best at “La Bottega”...

... and day after day there is an opportunity to learn something new…

Silvia and Ari welcome Andjela’s week stay at Smrikve with common worm up practice… it was Saturday morning…

Andjela Skrobonja after reaching the Indoors finals under 12 at the National level in her country came to visit for a week time “La Bottega”...

... during the same morning Dasha, one of the best players in her age group in Russia, had the opportunity to meet with one of the best under 14 girl from Slovenia – Veronika Erjavec… Veronika is currently ranked #1 in under 14 age group in Slovenia…

... the same as Dasha… Veronika is a great tennis fighter too… she knows well the tennis game… when to mix her stroke knowledge… and it was a pleasure to note how both girls where giving their best in this practice match…

In the afternoon me and Andjela had the possibility to play with the snowfall… this was for Andjela the first time to play tennis with snowfall… it was almost like skiing :)

... and just before the snow we were doing some brainstorming in the classroom, talking about being prepared for the unknown, and among which we had also the weather conditions change… ;)...

Four Smrikva Bowl girls are part of today's Iva Majoli's Croatian FED CUP team: Tereza MRDEZA, Petra MARTIC, Donna VEKIC and Ana KONJUH

Tereza MRDEZA, 5th Smrikva Bowl 2000 winner, Petra MARTIC, 6th Smrikva Bowl 2001 winner, Donna VEKIC, 8th, 9th and 10th Smrikva Bowl player, and Ana KONJUH, 12th Smrikva Bowl 2007 runner up are all part of the current Croatian FED CUP team.

The leadership of the team is supervised by former Roland Garros Champion Iva MAJOLI.

The “seeds of the Legends” are still seeds.. but at the moment both Donna VEKIC and Ana KONJUH are holding the leading position in their generations at the World level.

Ana KONJUH holds #1 ITF ranking being born in December 1997 and already holding at homes trophies of the ORANGE BOWL under 18, EDDIE HERR under 18, Junior AUSTRALIAN OPEN Championship…

...while Donna VEKIC is already TOP 100 WTA being born only at the end of June 1996, and is by far the best of her generation…

Nobody can foresee the future but just few days ago the father of Goran Ivanisevic visited SMRIKVE LOUNGE… and I recall his son’s recent interview where he said that in the following years this team could reach the top of the World… :)

A good rhythm and feeling development is a must to fully develop a tennis talent and in the video above you have a rare occasion to see developing tennis stars Ana and Donna dancing with Iva Majoli :)...

Smrikva seeds are growing…

Daria Solovyeva - Dasha at "La Bottega" di Smrikve :)

La Bottega di Smrikve is a natural development of the story started in 1996 when the Smrikva Bowl tennis talents story began…

During the Renaissance period La Bottega (the art and craft workshop) was the nursery site for the formation of the artists… and was probably the source of the Renaissance itself…

Inside La Bottega we can imagine pupils, still children, that began to take their first steps into the world of art… growing their talent side by side with the greatest artists that later on made history…

... and the Renaissance workshop was not limited to being a fine school of design (the same as our tennis school is not a simple fine school of tennis) but has served as a cultural center in which the philosophy and scientific knowledge merged with the artistic technique…

Dasha from Moscow opened this year “La Bottega” season of the World tennis talents visits some weeks ago…

TALENTED PLAYERS THAT WE ACCEPT DURING THE YEAR FOR SHORTER PERIODS OF TIME AS GUESTS OF OUR SCHOOL ARE LINKED TO THE SMRIKVA BOWL NETWORK…

Since 1996 over 1250 tennis talents spread in 57 countries and all the continents played Smrikva Bowl… and the preference of the accepted players always go to the talents we had opportunity to meet during Smrikva Bowl or players recommended by the Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors…

Traditionally they have good understanding of the Smrikve philosophy…

... day after day we are closer to the spring when the sun will be our daily companion… a warm friend :)...

... and YODA always help in teaching with some wise comments… ;)

... and quite a lot of his thoughts are summarized in Jim Loehr Mental Training and Alistar Higham explanation of the hidden force in tennis… the Momentum...
