Ajla Tomljanovic won the ETA (U14) tournament in Portugal

Ajla Tomljanovic from Croatia won in the finals Jennifer Ren from UK 6:0, 6:1.

Ajla Tomljanovic and Jennifer Ren both played Smrikva Bowl. Ajla Tomljanovic played twice Smrikva Bowl and on the 7th Smrikva Bowl 2002 was runner up and the year latter on the 8th Smrikva Bowl 2003 was ranked third. Ajla also represented Smrikva Bowl team on the 1st “Little Mo”/Smrikva Bowl 2002 that was played in Austin (Texas) and contributed to the victory of the Smrikva Bowl team. Ajla Tomljanovic is one of the most talented player in Croatia in her age group.

Jennifer Ren won the 8th Smrikva Bowl 2003 and represented the Smrikva Bowl team in Texas on 2nd “Little Mo”/Smrikva Bowl 2003. In 2005 Jennifer Ren won OCS Young Sportperson of the Year award. OCS has a long history in supporting sport through the development of young promising sports people. Over the last seven years many of the youngsters who have received sponsorship through the awards have gone on to compete for Great Britain and become accomplished athletes.

Astrid Besser won the ITF junior tournament in Umag - In the Memory of "Petar Rasberger"

Astrid Besser, 4th Smrikva Bowl 1999 winner and ranked 873 on WTA list, won the ITF junior tournament in Umag. In the finals Astrid Besser won Natasa Zoric from Serbia and Montenegro 7:5, 6:2.

Petra Martic, 6th Smrikva Bowl 2001 winner, has to retire in the quarterfinals because of an injury. Petra Martic played in the quarterfinals against Anouk Tigu from the Netherlands.

Tereza Mrdeza, 5th Smrikva Bowl 2000 winner, lost in the 3rd round against Corina Dentonni from Italy 3:6, 5:7.

Kristijan Mesaros, Deni Zmak, Petra Martic and Tereza Mrdeza passed the 1st round of the ITF junior tournament in Umag (Croatia) - In the memory of "Petar Rasberger"

Kristijan Mesaros is born in 1988 and is one of the most talented players in Croatia in his age group. Kristijan Mesaros won against Konecny from Czek Republic 6:4, 6:7, 6:4. At the beginning of this year, Kristijan Mesaros passed a month on the tournaments in Latin America and obtained great results. Kiki trains at the Smrikve Tennis Club with Miro Hrvatin.

Deni Zmak, 4th Smrikva Bowl 1999 runner up and one of the most talented players in Croatia in his age group, won against De Fays from Belgium 6:4, 4:4, ret..

Petra Martic, 6th Smrikva Bowl 2001 winner and one of the most talented players in Croatia in her age group, won against Kunaver from Slovenia 6:1, 6:1.

Vilim Visak, 1st Smrikva Bowl 1996 winner and the best ranked Smrikva Bowl winner on ATP list, lost in the 2nd round of the “Istarska Rivijera” from Simone Vagnozzi 6:7, 2:6. Wellcome back Giacomino!

In 2004, Giacomo Campus played Smrikva Bowl. Since the last summer he has been away from the courts because of a long surgery that he had to go trough, but his will and smile won in the end.
Recently, Giacomo come back to the tennis courts and played a Nike tournament at “Propatria di Milano”.
After the Smrikva Bowl, Giacomo remembered croatian word “Idemo” that croats use to encourage their players. “IDEMO Giacomo” and wellcome back to the game!

After Porec and Vrsar, the “Istarska Rivijera” moved in a beautifull old town Rovinj on western coast of Istria.
Vilim Visak, 1st Smrikva Bowl 1996 winner and #612 ranked player on ATP list, will play in the first round against David Savic. David Savic arrived in the finals of Vrsar tournament.

Blair Shankle arrived in quarterfinals at an under 14 MCB tournament in the US

Carol Weyman from MCB foundation informed us that Blair Shankle continue to progress very well in her tennis. In 2004, Blair played the 3rd “Little Mo”/Smrikva Bowl in Smrikve and won both matches for the US team that year.
Blair Shankle continue to be incredible at this young age. This week end she lost in the quarterfinals at an under 14 tournament organised by the MCB foundation that took place in Texas. Currently, Blair Shankle is #269 in the U.S. in under 14’s cathegory. Blair is still 11 and won’t be 12 until August. The girls 13 and 14 years old are still mutch taller than she. Blair’s play is mature and she is playing her points like a player who is much older. Congratulations to Blair and to her very nice family!

Ivana Lisjak, 2nd Smrikva Bowl 1997 winner and top ranked player on professional lists, lost in the 1st round qualifications against Milagros Sequera (25 years old and ranked 130 on WTA list; Milagros’ top ranking was #73 in 2004). The final result Sequera – Lisjak was: 2:6, 7:5, 6:3.
