Smrikva Bowl Library story and the spring... JRL once said... "books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind..." ;)

The 18th Smrikva Bowl 2013 generation will be known in less than a week time… and… while few days ago I recalled the story of circle of life that is linked to our little Ambassadors and the old olive trees we plant…

... today I would be pleased to recall another story that is linked to the books and the title of today… linked to the books but also to our players who bring them to their Smrikva Bowl… :)

...it is the story of heritage… but as written in the title… it is again a story related to the spring via pollen … but this time is a kind of mind pollen… ;)…

James Russell Lowell compared books to the bees and I like it… “books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind…”

In 2009 we started the building of the Smrikva Bowl Library… and since than each Smrikva Bowl player is requested to bring with him a cultural book that will remember his stay in Smrikve and will represent part of his culture of origin to be shared with other Smrikve friends…

Nowadays Smrikva Bowl Library consists of over 380 books from over 46 countries… :)

…Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors are today spread in 57 countries and all the continents… and historically their task was to help us in our search of talented kids in their countries of origin and invite them to play the Smrikva Bowl but from 26th of March 2009… since Istria from Smrikve was put on line… they are also ISTRIA Cultural Ambassadors’ seeds.

The old olive tree Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors plant every year is a symbol of friendship and intergenerational responsibility and Smrikva Bowl’s idea of children, sport, music and culture that are able to pass all frontiers are incorporated in the creation of the Smrikva Bowl Library too…

I used to write in my first book on European Union and Cosmopolitan Democracy that we are those who represent the current civilization…

I find it as an important concept. Today people live an average of about 80 years. What we call civilization is mostly made up of the human knowledge we have accumulated till today, which our institutions in part are able to pass onto future generations… sometimes this is not easy at all…

The books represent the greatest human memory that can help us understand what we see combined with cumulated personal experience of our daily lives. But given the fragility of the circle of life it is very easy for people to ignore these facts and lose sight of our human knowledge. It takes just a few generations to lose that great heritage…

We have gotten used to rapid technological progress, but social and civil progress is slower… more complex. Humans learn throughout the whole lifetime, from books… schools, but mostly from personal experiences…

Smrikva Bowl mission is to develop and spread cosmopolitan values. Love, friendship and empathy are cosmopolitan values per excellence for people and humanity…

Thanks in advance to all the 18th Smrikva Bowl players who will help this year with their visit to Smrikve to build another piece of the Smrikva Bowl World library :)

Spring is at the door... nature awakens... and soon the 18th Smrikva Bowl 2013 tennis talents generation will be known... :)

In 2005, for the 10th Smrikva Bowl anniversary, we started a tradition of planting an Olive tree… the Olive tree selected was older than the oldest man living on the earth today…

… in many countries the olive tree is a symbol of peace… while the age of the Smrikva Bowl olive tree is a symbol of intergenerational responsibility…

… every person is born without knowing anything about life on this earth and it is the responsibility of every generation to try to understand and to learn to preserve all that each of us is born with…

… the spring moment when nature wakes up… is the moment when the new Smrikva Bowl generation will be known… and to me it is a nice moment to recall the story of the circle of life… :)

Smrikve, March 2008

AMBASSADORSOLD OLIVE TREE AND THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

The Lion King cartoon is an artwork and most of the life messages one can find in it are in line with the Smrikva Bowl. They are in line with the message of the Ambassadors’ Olive Tree; they are in line with the values of friendship and love; they are in line with empathy. Love, friendship and empathy are all Cosmopolitan values per excellence, as far as people and humanity are concerned.

The relationship between Mufasa, Sarabi and Simba reminds me of both: parents and family love, but also about the intergenerational responsibility.

Timon, Pumbaa and Simba relationship reminds me about love between friends. Pumbaa also make me think about empathy, intuition and loyalty. The relationship between Simba and Nola reminds me again about the importance of love. Rafiki, the wise old baboo, with his many centuries old tree reminds me about the importance of knowledge and experience of the older.

There are many other particular moments that every person on its own, based on his or her own life experience, discover by watching these artworks.

You might be interested to know that most of the characters’s names in this cartoon have a particular meaning in Swahili language: Simba means “lion”; Nala means “gift”, and love is for me one of the greatest gifts that people can receive and give during their life; Sarabi means “mirage”; Pumbaa means “dull-witted” or “stunned”; and Rafiki means “friend” :). These names with their meanings make me think of the American Indians and the way they used to give the names to their people.

Every person is born without knowing anything about life on this earth and it is the responsibility of every generation to understand and to learn, to preserve all that each of us is born with.

When Mufasa was explaining to Simba that is not easy to be the King… a good King should know that everything around us lives in a delicate equilibrium and with intelligence we should try to understand it and respect it.

The intergenerational responsibility alone will allow future generations to enjoy the beauty of life, the sunsets and the seasons of the earth. Enjoy the circle of life.

I am pleased to repeat words of a Nobel Prize for Peace who was guest speaker to one of Ambrosetti’s Young Leader Group meetings. It is a tradition that every guest dedicate few words to the Group and he wrote down the following

“The future is always in a minority. Yet the history of the future is more important than the history of the past. It is for the old to remember the past. It is for the young to build the world of tomorrow.

Do it! You can build a world without wars. You can build a new humanity.”

Everything around us lives in a delicate equilibrium and with intelligence we should try to understand it and respect it. It is true that every generation face new challenges but there are many examples in the past how the old generations managed and solved particular problems and this is why knowledge, human curiosity and will to learn are important.

Ana Ivanovic, Golden Honorary Smrikva Bowl Member, donated again to the 18th Smrikva Bowl 2013 edition and "La Bottega" di Smrikve her signed dress, cup and tennis shoes collection :)...her sixth year donation

I’ve just received the gifts for this year Smrikva Bowl kids from our Golden Honorary Smrikva Bowl Member and Tennis Star Ana Ivanovic :)

Ana Ivanovic is among the best tennis players in the World and her funs are spread all over the World… I am very pleased that Ana accepted for the sixth year in the row to donate few items to the Smrikva Bowl kids.

Over the years Ana donated signed t-shirts, dresses, caps and several of her tennis shoes and for the 18th Smrikva Bowl 2013 edition she decided for the following combination :)… it is similar to the combination she used on Hopman Cup dress… also known as the ITF World Mixed Team Championships…

This year Smrikva Bowl kids will get her signed dress and signed tennis shoes… while at “La Bottega” di Smrikve library – classroom her cup will be permanently exposed…

I am sure that 18th Smrikva Bowl 2013 kids will love Ana’s gift and I am also sure that this gift will inspire them to do better and better in tennis… step by step ;).

Ana Ivanovic gave few years ago an interview to Montenegro Family and I am pleased to post her words again because they are of interest for the Smrikva comunity, our Smrikva Bowl talents and the new talents we expect this summer in Smrikve…

When you were five your wish was to play tennis. Today, you are the main reason why many five-years-old kids want to play tennis. For the children you meet, often you’re seen as an idol. How do you feel while meeting them?

It’s one of the biggest honors, I can tell you that. It’s not something I ever thought about when I was trying to become a professional: you dream about winning tournaments and competing in big stadiums, but this is a whole different side to being a professional. I can see that many children look up to athletes and I take my responsibility very seriously. It’s a great honor for me to maybe inspire some kids to play tennis, and I love spending time with children.

Is it true that the dreams come true if you believe in them, considering the fact that you dreamed of winning a Grand Slam…. and the dream came true. Or is more needed for the fulfillment of a dream?

Believing in your goals is definitely the most important thing. If you don’t believe you will achieve them, you have no chance really. It’s also important to have a good support team around you, starting with your family. I have been lucky in that respect: my parents never pushed me into anything, they always understood me and supported me in the best way possible. My management has also done a great job for me. They help me to focus only on tennis.

What advice would you give to the parents whose children want to practise a sport?

The most important thing is that parents are supporting their children, and that children are playing tennis because they want to play it – not because their parents want them to play. If this is the case then I would encourage parents to support their children, never to push them, and to make sure that the child’s happiness is the overall priority.

Ana Ivanovic motto is also “Never stop smiling” :)… and in below video Nole is making her smile ;)…

An Ana Ivanovic supporter made a nice video named:“That’s Why She’s The One” but it is not any more available and in every part of that video Ana’s smile spread like the sunshine spread through the clouds :)… and when I watched that video for the first time it made me thinkg of Timon and Pumbaa’s motto: “Hakuna Matata” :)… not having that video available any more I found this one which ends with Ana’s moto :)… never stop :))…;)

In 2008 Ana Ivanovic started to donate signed t-shirts to the Smrikva Bowl finalists. Since than she won Roland Garros and reached also the ranking #1 in the World

Katarina Jokic, Maia Lumsden, Katie Swan, Paula Arias Manon, Jovana Vukovic – JOKA, Olga Danilovic, Ksenija Tmusic, Himari Sato and Luisa Meyer Auf Der Heide received Ana’s gift and I hope that her gift will inspire them to keep doing their best in tennis…

On September 17th, 2007 Ana Ivanovic has been officially named the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Ambassador. On that day, in relation with the nomination, Ana said “This is a great honor for me to be invited to be UNICEF Ambassador. I love children, and I relish this opportunity to help them in some small way.”

With her gifts Ana showed that she loves children and this way she also helps Smirkva Bowl development “in some small way”.

“Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire and the power to unite people in a way little else can – it is an instrument of peace.” said Nelson Mandela.

Never Stop Smiling Ana and thank you again from Smrikve and this year kids! :)

Four years of "Istria from Smrikve"... and First Appino International Championship Talent Detection 2013 for U10 and U12

7th of March 2013, Smrikve

Dear travellers, book readers and Smrikve tennis friends,

On 26th of March 2009, “Istria from Smrikve” virtual book was published on line with aim to attract travellers in my native Region… AND…

WHY THIS LETTER TODAY?...

It is the World Book Day… actually the World Book Day is a yearly event celebrated worldwide on 23rd of April, but in the United Kingdom is celebrated on first Thursday in March.

“Istria from Smrikve” is in English… and today my grandfather Mate would celebrated 94 years… without his decision to move his family to Smrikve also Istria from Smrikve would have not been written… thus I decided to take the opportunity of the British Day of the Book to share few relevant updates related to the book and ALSO few general spring news from Smrikve for the young tennis fans :)...

Over the last four years over 500.000 people visited “Istria from Smrikve”. This E-book is ALL about culture… written for travellers… where you can find information about places, music, cuisine, olive oil, wine, people, events, museums… described in 600 virtual pages, with over 2000 pictures, 30 old town maps… and over 120 selected videos of places and families worth visiting in Istria…

The initial database featured 200 TOP restaurants, olive oil and wine producers has grown into over 300. 100 families have already created nice websites and today you can visit most of them through “permanent exhibition” recently created on “Istria from Smrikve”... you can find them as recommended place to stay, wine or olive oil to taste, restaurant or event to attend…

“Istria from Smrikve” is NOT a commercial website but a real option and keeps being promoted by word of mouth…

A bit more than 200,000 inhabitants, lovely hilltops, beautiful nature, crystal blue sea, excellent food, olive oil, outstanding wine, many towns and villages inhabited for over 3000 years. This is in very few words what my E-book is about :)...

ISTRIA from SMRIKVE virtual book

The Smrikva Bowl word of mouth is still one of THE keys in attracting of the future travellers… since 1996 Smrikva Bowl gathered over 1250 tennis talents from 57 countries and all the continents… very soon, after 30th of March, this year annual tennis talents will be known… and another GOOD YEAR is expected… our SMRIKVE Ambassadors’ network should grow to over 60 countries… there are already top tennis talents from over 30 countries who presented their candidacy for the 18th annual…

Every day… many Smrikva kids with their efforts and results write the above story… at the beginning of the year among TOP 5 juniors on ITF world ranking list 5 of them played SMRIKVA BOWL...

Several tennis talents, former Smrikva Bowl players, have visited or are planning to visit “La Bottega” di Smrikve tennis school during the year and I look forward to meet with some of you :)...

For those who love to relax... bear in mind that there are still few weeks available at the new SMRIKVE LOUNGE...

SMRIKVE LOUNGE website

For the end of this Book Day letter… just one more NEWS, relevant for the Smrikva young tennis fans and their families… being under 10 and under 12…

I am pleased to share the fact that Luca Appino, Golden Honorary Smrikva Bowl Member, will hold in mid April 2013 the first Appino International Championship Talent Detection for U10 and U12… the tournament will be held in San Remo (Italy) where Luca is dedicating his time to tennis talents as we love to do at “La Bottega” di Smrikve…

All Smrikva kids born in the requested age groups are eligible and welcome… and for those who still do not know Luca I am pleased to recall that he contributed to built up Babolat from a string company to one of the largest racquet manufacturers in the World and is credited for scouting at early age Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Dinara Safina and Kim Clijsters… being all #1 tennis World Champions…

First APPINO INTERNATIONAL 2013

Enjoy the soon coming spring and hope to meet some of you for EASTERN HOLIDAYS in Smrikve!

Regards,

Miodrag Bozovic

A nice working week at "La Bottega" with Andjela, Dasha, Silvia, Aria and Max...

O yes… this is Dasha… with “šapka”... some days are still cold while other days already look like the spring days…

During the week Dasha and Andjela had the opportunity to play a sparing match…

... while Andjela was focusing on some details during the whole week it was an opportunity to exchange few balls…

... on Saturday morning Max, Silvia and Ari played with Andjela… this was for Andjela the conclusion practice of her week and the opportunity to put in practice little details we paid attention during the week…

... and for the end just one nice picture of flying Dasha taken the same morning… :)...

Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction...

Today… in many countries around the World the LOVe Day is celebrated… and I like to dedicate every year few words to this particular FORCE :)…

Smrikva Bowl mission has always been dedicated towards spreading the cosmopolitan values… and LOVe, friendship and empathy are among those values per excellence…

… today it is still hard to imagine what kind of beauty the Smrikva Bowl seeds around the World will be able to create…

... they are growing… like growing seeds of the tennis of tomorrow.. spread in 57 countries and all the continents…

The title of today article… was borrowed from a quote of Antonine de Saint- Exupéry… the author of the Little Prince book… and is dedicated to THE FORCE… we like to name “LOVe”... and I like to think of it as… the ”eVOLve”… :)

… very powerful force but can also be very painful force… from time to time…

THE LITTLE PRINCE...by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry… is a very special book that every person at different age read differently.

It is a book that last over time and was likely the last love gift Antoine de Saint-Exupéry made to his wife Consuelo de Saint-Exupéry.

Over time this book was translated into many different languages thus become a love gift for many generations around the world.

It is a children’s book written for the older… and I like many parts of it… especially the description that Antoine make of the adult people… the description of the moment when the rose was born… the importance of the right orders on the King’s planet… “you never know” statement… the meeting with the wise fox… the smiling stars and many other parts…

… and just one more thing… Only best friends, when they trust each other, do share their deep knowledge… and once The Little Prince and the fox created such a special relationship the fox shared a secret with him…

... “One only understands the things that one tames,” said the fox…

... “What must I do, to tame you?” asked the little prince.

“You must be very patient,” replied the fox. “First you will sit down at a little distance from me – like that – in the grass. I shall look at you out of the corner of my eye, and you will say nothing. Words are the source of misunderstandings. But you will sit a little closer to me, every day…”

... and when Little Prince come back to say goodbye the fox shared a little secret with him…

... “Goodbye,” said the fox. “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”

“What is essential is invisible to the eye,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”

... ”... You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose…”

“I am responsible for my rose,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry believed in the title of today’s article that: “Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction”...

…whatever he thought with that say… I like it… ;)
