"Smrikve theatre stage" for the "seeds of the Legends" is entering final phase of the preparations...20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 edition...

I am please to recall parts of an article written at the beginning of 2010… when I compared for the first time Smrikva Bowl to a theater stage…

… When I think of Smrikva Bowl I try to imagine it as a theatre where every year we work hard to set the stage where the world’s talents can gather… Every year we gather all this different actors, great talents, very special kids, arriving from different cultures, having different dreams,…

We set the stage and later on they are in charge with their will, dreams and hard work… they are the ones who write the most different stories…

Smrikva Bowl is still very young tournament but I would like to think that some of these kids will write… inspiring stories in most different professional fields.

I also know that according to the statistics only few of the kids participating Smrikva Bowl will make it to become top professional tennis players, but I like to think that they will make it in other professional fields they choose in their lives.

I read Andre Agassi’s book and throught the whole book he was repeating to friends and people meeting… that he doesn’t like tennis thus it seems to me that he never had the option to choose, but in end he ended up being the Champion and according to Luke Jensen a person with big heart and very good friend.

I will never know how many kids playing Smrikva Bowl are playing it because their parents would like them to become professional tennis players and how much of them play it because they enjoy the game.

What I do know is that any kind of sport can help kids in their growth and I also know that people that do excel in any field require total dedication and a lot of sacrifice to reach the excellence.

When I think of Andre’s words of not loving what he was doing for most of the time of his life I start thinking of other 90% of people around the World that make for living doing jobs they do not like, but “La vita e’ bella” Roberto Benigni would say and tennis helped Andre to grow up.

There is one part in the book that I liked a lot… it is about inspiration, faith and what does it mean to be a good coach… to have the right word in the right moment… this part is related with Gil… and is about people that do believe in other people and help them to write their life stories and to write their own one…

Here are Gil’s words reported by Andre in his book when he accepted to coach him:

“I’m not one of those people who expresses or articulates feelings very well, but from now on, just know this: It’s on, man. It is on.

You know what I’m saying? We’are in a fight, and you can count on me until the last man is standing. Somewhere up there is a star with your name on it. I might not be able to help you find it, but I’ve got pretty strong shoulders, and you can stand on my shoulders while you’re looking for that star. You hear? For as long as you want. Stand on my shoulders and reach, man. Reach.”

In every life there are people that influence what we do and how we do it.

The Smrikva Bowl festival would like to inspire its players and Ambassadors to believe in their dreams and work hard to reach them.

Sport and music are in general good educators and the vision of sport preferred in Smrikve is the one Nelson Mandela once said:

“Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire and the power to unite people in a way little else can – it is an instrument of peace.”

2nd SBTTFW 2016 is scheduled for 16th of April till 23rd of April 2016 and will be reserved again for a maximum of 8 Smrikva Bowl kids and families… If you would like to attend the second edition please feel free to send me a note and I will include you on the SBTTFW candidacy list.

Andrej won the 3rd Smrikva Kids 2015 Spring Main Draw Tournament... and Jakov the Consolation Draw...

Yesterday we organized 3rd Smrikva Kids 2015 tournament for the Club members…

Leki, Andrej, Marko, Ive, Tara, Nina, Stefo, Antonio, Helena, Deni, Jakov, Petar and Filip had the opportunity to enjoy all day tennis and measure their progress…

… and Nina was fighting all day long with desire to get the trophy…

The Round Robin was played till pizza launch time… and new friendships were made :)

After launch time… the Main and Consolation Draws were made and the luck wanted that Leki and Andrej play

First Smrikva Kids Leki won over Andrej… second Smrikva Kids Andrej won over Leki… and this time, on the 3rd Smrikva Kids 2015, they happen to play in the quarterfinals and Andrej was better…

… and in the Consolation Draw final… Nina was playing with Jakov… and uncertainty lasted till the last ball.. and this time Jakov’s got the trophy…

In the Main Draw final… Andrej was playing with Antonio this time… and Andrej played with momentum the whole match… and won the 3rd Smrikva Kids Main Draw :)

In autumn we continue ;)…

After the first Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week it was a pleasure to see Maria TIMOFEEVA, 17th Smrikva Bowl 2002 player, again in Smrikve…

In March Maria was in Smrikve with her friend Oksana SELEKHMETEVA… and now she is again in Smrikve with her family on her tournament road…

We just concluded a very special and nice 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Vacation Week 2015 with my friend Luca Appino and players from different countries and continents… and it is always a pleasure to share with each Smrikva kid visiting us the new elements that can contribute to their development…

… and we always find time to talk about tennis… tennis and tennis ;)… and there is not better place then the inspiring Smrikva Bowl Library :)…

Sixth Day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015... Sliding... and repetition Day... with evening dedicated to Momentum being totally against you and Pizza dinner :)...

The first day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015 was dedicated to discovering the importance of sensations and of the hidden force in tennis…

… during the second day the concentration was on discovering the importance of breathing and decontration… with evening classroom dedicated to discovering the Momentum…

… third day had focus on discovering the importance of timing and acceleration… while the evening classroom was dedicated to discovering the feelings and sensations when the Momentum is totally with you and with you…

… fourth day had focus on discovering the importance of the ideal hitting point… while the evening classroom started to discover when the Moment is not with you…

… while fifth day had focus on learning more about tactics… dedicating time to each player to learn or improve just one element he or she expressed desire to improve or learn… then hints on movement… and the evening continued with exploring the Momentum being not with you…

The last day was envisaged to go through all the relevant moments of the week… and add just a little bit about sliding on clay… and some relevant tips for both experienced clay court players but also hard court players…

The evening was dedicated to Momentum… some additional tips on nutrition… medical check ups… and always the conclusion with one Rafa’s story…

Early in the morning warm up before starting to experience the elements of the Tennis Talents Method is the essence of each Day…

The morning warm up with music is even more fun… and after it the group is always ready for new learning experiences…

… and yesterday tips for sliding on clay finished with a super nice and funny drill…

… the individual session of the day was dedicated to Taki boy…

… and after launch Andrea… Andjela’s sister… lead the warm up teaching the group some latino american dancing steps :)…

… super fun for every body ;)…

… after this special afternoon warm up… we wished to go through all the elements we’ve been learning during the week….

FIfth Day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015... Tactics... Movement... and individual Day... with evening dedicated to Momentum being not with you...

The first day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015 was dedicated to discovering the importance of sensations and of the hidden force in tennis…

… during the second day the concentration was on discovering the importance of breathing and decontration… with evening classroom dedicated to discovering the Momentum…

… fourth day had focus on discovering the importance of the ideal hitting point… while the evening classroom started to discover when the Moment is not with you…

Early in the morning warm up before starting to experience the elements of the Tennis Talents Method is already the essence of each Day…

… we started to have fun of combining warm up with music… also to repeat… how timing… acceleration…rhythm… and other sensation related elements we were building over the week are all one…

… each point we introduce first… starting with questions… and answers… and then get explained… once the idea is shared… there is always a need to try it with the racket on the court… to experience it… feel it and develop it…

… and the basics we’ve seen… Play far away from the opponent… move it… change rhythm… high deep spin balls if they bounce above the shoulder create problems to the opponent… very low slice balls if they bounce below the knee create problems to the opponent… and timing element related with hitting at the highest point of bounce… :)

During the morning session… Taki expressed his wish to learn how to hit “easy ball”… because most of the time he missed to hit them the way he wish…

June expressed her wish to learn to serve slice and kick… and the assessment individual day was dedicated to June… with her hitting partner and new friend Andjela :)

while Andjela… in her individual lesson… expressed wish to improve some on court mental related elements she needs during the matches…

and the other players had their sessions in the afternoon… which started to learn how to move… when distances are different… how to use side… cross… sprint… and other possible directions relevant steps…

Leah wished to incorporate the elements we were learning on her forehand… larger back swing… decontraction… acceleration… and decontraction again….

Vardhan worked on inside out with a particular footwork elements…

… and Tara… on short “easy” balls….

… cool down after afternoon session is a must…

… and Ivan and Matej’s ATP level training is also a must of the day after the afternoon Group session…

… we had another super tasty beginning of the classroom session with cake for Andjela’s sister who had birthday day after Andjela :)… and Andrea made her cake on her own… and after the class we also had another present she made…

… it was the evening dedicated to further exploring how to turn the Momentum on our side…

Today is the last session… dedicated to try to remember and feel again all the elements shared during the week…

… a part being yesterday individual assessment day dedicated to Andjela it was also her birthday :)… and some of her new friends made her a surprise a nice game present :)…

… the afternoon was dedicated to feel the element of the day… but was also dedicated to a little technical detail… backhand slice…

… cool down after afternoon session is a must…

… and after cool down Andjela’s sister brought to the players plum cakes she made… “palačinke” :)

… before dinner… before evening classroom… and before Andjela’s individual session in the library… all the Group enjoyed Matej and Ivan’s training…

Third Day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015... the Timing and Acceleration... and Momentum Day when Momentum is totally with you and with you...

The first day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015 was dedicated to discovering the importance of sensations and of the hidden force in tennis…

… while during the second day the concentration was on discovering the importance of breathing and decontration… the evening classroom was dedicated for discovering the Momentum…

Early in the morning warm up before starting to experience the elements of the Tennis Talents Method is the essence of each Day…

… each point needs to be introduced first… explained using different learning channels… and once the idea is shared… there is always a need to try it with the racket on the court… the experience… feel and develop… every day adding a little piece…

… first day Sensations… second day… Breathing and Decontraction Day… and yesterday Timing and Acceleration… both key element for extracting the potential…

and each candidate experienced the speed… the importance of kinetic chain coordination for the perfect execution…

… the assessment individual day was dedicated to Leah… and again Andjela was the hitting partner to help show her current skills…

After launch we continued starting with our warm up before starting to add new building blocks…

… a nice exercise was how to use defense… neutral… and attack strokes… with the skills developed over the last 3 days…

… cool down after afternoon session is a must… although everybody played football :)… and somebody swim…

… after dinner we returned to the classroom… and started to further discover the Momentum… and as every night before going to sleep Luca told some Rafael Nadal stories… we had also a poem moment…

Second Day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015... the Breathing-Decontraction and Momentum Day...

The first day of the 1st Smrikva Bowl Tennis Talents Family Week 2015 was dedicated to discovering the importance of sensations and of the hidden force in tennis…

… while during the second day the concentration was on discovering the importance of breathing and decontration… and the evening classroom was dedicated for discovering the Momentum…

Early in the morning warm up before starting to experience the elements of the Tennis Talents Method is already the essence of each Day…

… each point needs to be introduced first… explained using different learning channels… that each member of the Group can find the most suitable one for him…

… once the idea was shared… there is always a wish to try it with the racket on the court… the experience… feel and develop… every day adding a little piece…

… and yesterday was the Breathing and Decontraction Day… both key element for the tennis rhythm and acceleration skills development…

… there is always a little detail that get shared from a technical part too… which help players to adapt on situations… and two days ago the tip focused on volleys and different swings related with different positions and balls trajectories… while yesterday was focused on smash… again taking into consideration different situations… very nice moment…

… after the morning session… Vardhan continued to play with Andjela individually… and it was a moment to see him in action…

… and it was a moment for Luca to exchange few words more with his family :)… always a nice chat…

… while Vardhan and Andjela kept playing their best tennis…

Warm up and cool down is an essence… and the afternoon session started with already traditional warm up…

… and later on game… game… game…

but also the acting competition…

… and how to teach sensations… how to teach decontraction… by finding a nice games that can let them experience a particular sensation…

… and the competition-acting game of the afternoon was… Robot… Octopus… Professional Tennis Player… each of the actions had to go through a jury of six members… and the winner was Tara getting Andy Roddick’s Foundation bracelet :)

… the afternoon session concluded with cool down…

Today the group will start exploring the other relevant pillars of the Tennis Talent Method… Sensation is already part of the Group… the same as Breathing and Decontraction… today a new pillar will be constructed by the members of the Group… :)
