We collected olives and made olive oil that will end up in bottles for the 20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 Ambassadors - Istrian olive oil - one of the best in the World and Smrikva kids are "seeds of the legends"...
Yesterday was a very long day… 20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 Smrikva Bowl olive oil collection day…
... with over 20 friends we started to gather for the olive oil collection at 8:00 AM…
... and we returned home at 10:00 PM from the olive mill with anther golden green annual :)
It is the 2015 Smrikva Bowl olive oil production :)...
In Smrikve is considered 2014 production because the next year every new Smrikva Bowl Ambassador will receive a bottle of it.
We moved from Smrikve to Fazana to collect the first part of the day…
later on we moved from Fazana to Valbandon… Villa Taste to collect the second part of the day…
... and than we finally reached Smrikve again…
and continued to collect at SMRIKVE LOUNGE… and all around Smrikve…
from the olive trees which hold names over 1000 players who planted some of our trees from 64 countries and all the continents…
In Smrikve we produce Istrian olive oil that has over 2000 years old tradition in olive oil making and was considered among the best one in the Roman Empire and today is still considered among the best one in the World.
During the Smrikva Bowl we use to give to every Smrikva Bowl Ambasador a bottle of oil as a memory to their Smrikva Bowl.
We are already able to produce special and limited collections of the Smrikva Bowl olive oil from the Smrikva Bowl centuries old olive trees planted by some of the future tennis Champions… the long road full of sweat and tears… and in end smile :)
Last year Smrikva Bowl kids won six out of eight potential first places at the Junior GRAND SLAM Tournaments… and they are already generations who planted olive trees in Smrikve:

The tradition of the olive oil production started to develop in Istria during the time of the Emperor Augustus. Thanks to the olive oil Pula was for few centuries one of the richest towns in the Roman Empire and this is one of the main reasons why Pula got its magnificent Arena.
It is important to say that at the time olive oil was not used only as the salad dressing as we use it today but it was used also for lighting thus it was important as todays are important the sources of energy we use. It was the gold of its period. This explain the status and importance Pula had during the Roman Empire time.
Romans had deep knowledge of olive oil making and we do know that they had five different olive oils quality ranking:
1. Oleum ex albis ulivis: first quality olive oil made by green and white olives
(THIS IS WHAT WE DO FROM THE SMRIKVA BOWL OLIVES)
2. Viride: olive oil made by the olives that started to become black
3. Maturum: olive oil made by mature olives
4. Caducum: olive oil made by olives collected from the ground
5. Cibarium: olive oil made by rotten olives
In 2005, for the 10th Smrikva Bowl anniversary, we started the tradition of planting an old Olive tree. The Olive tree selected was older than the oldest man living on the earth today.
On Brioni island there is an olive tree from the beginning of the 4th century that is one of the oldest olive trees in Europe… and many Smrikva Bowl kids visit it every year…
Marcus Valerius Martialis, native from Cordoba, who lived in the 1st century AD, during the Roman Empire times, celebrated Istrian olive oil with the following verses: “Uncto Corduba Laetior Venafro Histra Nec Minus Absolute Testa”. The translation in English would be: “Cordoba, you being more fertile than the olive oil region of Venafro and so perfect as the oil (amphora) from Istria”.

Tennis Europe Junior Masters champions crowned: Kristina MILETIC (winner U16), Nicola KUHN (winner U14), Adela JOLDIC (runner up U14)
As I learn from TE Europe website the new champions have been crowned at the Tennis Europe Junior Masters competition at the season-ending event for the elite players of the Tennis Europe Junior Tour under 16 and under 14 age group…
I was so pleased to read 3 names reaching the TOP: Kristina MILETIC (under 16 winner), Nicola KUHN (under 14 winner) and Adela JOLDIC (under 14 runner up)
In the under 16 age group, Kristina MILETIC, 14th Smrikva Bowl 2009 player, of Serbia was the first player to secure victory, although the win came in a manner that she would not have wanted as opponent Eva Marie Voracek was forced to retire after losing the first four games…
Miletic was delighted though, and said it would take a couple of days to get used to being the new Junior Masters champion. She was particularly happy with her attitude during the weekend, commenting after that match that “Even though she retired, I felt I was playing very well. I almost had disasters in my other two matches; I even lost my first set here 0-6 on Friday, but getting out of those situations gave me a lot of confidence.”
In the under 14 age group, Nicola KUHN, 15th Smrikva Bowl 2010 winner, was the next to join the winners’ circle, conceding just four games to Marko Miladinovic of Serbia in the Boys 14 & Under final on Court 1. Miladinovic had battled back from a set down in both of his previous matches, but Kuhn’s solid attacking style meant that the Serb had few chances to do so for a third match in a row. The Spanish-based German called it a perfect end to a Tennis Europe Junior Tour season in which he won his first Category 1 title in Bolton, and went on to play on the winning Winter Cup by HEAD and Summer Cups teams, as well as helping to secure the World Junior Tennis title for Germany.
“I’m especially pleased because I played better today than in the other matches,” he said. “I felt my level going up during the match, which was good. I wanted to show my best tennis today because it’s an important tournament and it’s important to end the year well, so I was very motivated.”
In the under 14 age group for girls, Adela JOLDIC, 15th Smrikva Bowl 2010 player, of Bosnia & Herzegovina played finals with Anastasia Potapova.

Elvis Grgorinic and Tomislav Bozovic - Tomo are the winners of the 9th Smrikva Rekreacija 2014 Tournament
In 2009 we established the Spring and Autumn Smrikve Tennis Club Tournament for the recreational players and this year we returned to its origins when only recreation players were invited to compete…
18 Smrikve Tennis Club Recreational members participated in this 9th Smrikve Rekreacija 2014 Tournament…
The day was both cloudy and sunny… simply ideal for tennis :)
There were a lot of nice and equal matches during the day… and those who reached the Main Draw final played five and four matches in just a day and it is not an easy experience… a lot of nice tennis combined with good food and funny moments happened during the day…
We started to gather at 8:30 AM… and finished late night at 11:00 PM…
... the sky was nice above Smrikve… and the matches continued till late night…
and this time, last Recreacija winner, Elvis Grgorinic played in the finals with Dragan Hrelja…
To reach the finals Elvis defeated four players: Damir, Slavisa, Matkovic and Neven… on the othre side of the Draw Dragan defeated three players: Tomo, Mirkovic and Nenad…
I am pleased to represent with just few more word the winner of the Main Draw of the 9th Smrikva Rekreacija 2014 edition…
Elvis is a very particular player… he played basketball before starting to play recreational tennis… and there are several elements he incorporated from basketball game into tennis game..
There are famous examples of pro players who had some other sports influence on their game such as: Roddick’s serv – basketball, Borg’s backhand – hockey… just to mention few…
... and Elvis in turn is a very difficult player to play at the recreation level…
In each stroke he change direction and speed of the ball… thus there is no way you can follow any rhythm during the game…
But let me share few other elements… you can see the stance he use…
... it is a typical stance that basket ball players use when they defend… and if you see the hand in which he holds the racket you would say that he is lefty…
It is partially true because he serve with his left hand…
... the truth is that he plays two forehands…
If you played basketball you know that basketball players use to play the ball with both hands… and this is what Elvis does…
From time to time when he play on the net… he can jump and transfer his racket from one hand into another… it is also something that basketball players do with the ball…
... an additional element he use in tennis from basketball is explosive first step… or first movement… this is also important in tennis… but his strokes are offensive only when he comes to the net… than he use again a basketball stroke that I would call “knock the net” like when you “knock the basket”... and the angles he get at the net are no return balls…
... and on top of the above on each ball he put 100% of his heart…
In the Consolation Draw… the finalist were: Tomo and Slavisa... but Slavisa did not have power to play after his semifinals thus Tomo got the trophy with w.o. in the finals…
... in Konoba… our tavern… we celebrated the winners with dry ham and cheese :)

Just attended PTR Mental Coaching class run by Marco Vecchi - PTR Master Professional - at Marlengo (Merano - Italy)
I just returned from PTR Mental Coaching – Mental Toughness Training class run by Marco Vecchi at PTR European headquarter located in Marlengo (Merano)...
In 2009, Marco Vecchi run also my first PTR Certification class and it is always a pleasure to attend his classes…
Just few words to briefly describe Marco Vecchi... although few words are not sufficient to summarize his experience but it would be of help… Master Professional PTR, International Workshop Leader, International Tester PTR, speaker of the following courses, International Workshop Certification, Advanced Teaching, Mental Toughness…
He holds a Master degree in Sport Psychology… it is author of the book Senior Tennis… editor of the tennis magazine Il Tennis Italiano… and since more than 20 years he cooperates with the Dennis van der Meer Tennis University of Marlengo… and gained experiences, among others, at Vic Braden Tennis College and Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy…
I did not mention all of his experiences… but when Marco speaks he is all the above…
Teaching methods and mental strength are two fields that he is dedicating most of his current attention… I already followed his teaching methods class… and the course I followed last week end was focused on Mental Coaching and Mental Toughness Training…
... just to give a short idea about the subject and methods… I will mention that was followed Dr. Jim Loehr, among other PTR International Master Professional, findings…
Mental Toughness in short would be to maximize your potential and performance by creating constant relation between your objectives and your ability to control attention, thoughts, activation, visualization and anxiety…

Andrej Te won the 2nd Smrikva Kids 2014 Autumn Tournament...
Yesterday we organized a tournament for the Club members… and Leki, Andrej, Marko, Ivan, Tara and Nina had the opportunity to measure their progress…
Last time Leki won over Andrej and this time, on the 2nd Smrikva Kids 2014, Andrej was better…
Taki was able to conquer the first place in the Consolation Draw… while progress was made by all the players since summer tournament…
... especially Marko who was able to take a set to almost all the players… but also Ivan who at the end was able to conquer the 3rd place…
... it was a nice Sunday in Smrikve :)...

20th SMRIKVA BOWL 2015 selection process starts today on Ambassadors Day... 21st of September...
Dear Smrikva Bowl and Smrikve friends!
I am aware that people today do not have time to read long letters ;)… and my letters are usually long :)… therefore I know that not everybody will reach the bottom of this letter… but I hope that those who do it will find it of interest and may enjoy recalling some moments spent together in Smrikve …
It is the 21st of September 2014… and it is the selection date start for the Smrikva Bowl 2015 edition…
Today is also celebrated the International Day of Peace, also known as the World Peace Day… and years ago this date was selected as the Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors Day (“SBA” Day)…
The SBA Day, although celebrated on the same day as the World Peace Day, is dedicated to intergenerational responsibility, civilization and tennis. Without civil society in a modern world there is no guarantee for peace… and both civil society and peace are the pillars for any talent development…
In 2005, for the 10th Smrikva Bowl anniversary, we started a tradition of planting an old Olive tree during Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors Nomination Ceremony. The Olive tree selected was older than the oldest man living on the earth today… during the ceremony, every Ambassador put a tiny piece of land close to the root and donated his/her name to the tree…
The Olive tree is a symbol of peace in various cultures… and his age is symbol of intergenerational responsibility. Every person is born without knowing anything about life on this earth and it is the responsibility of every generation to understand and to learn to preserve all that each of us is born with… this is the message SBA Olive trees transmit… intergenerational responsibility alone will allow future generations to enjoy the beauty of life, the sunsets and the seasons of the earth.
Smrikva Bowl is dedicated to children… and to find the proper way to communicate with them I learn to love cartoons… cartoons help me to speak with children and to be understood by them… The Lion King is nice one for the Old Olive Tree story that I am pleased to share today on the World Peace Day… the Circle of Life story…
This cartoon is full of life messages which are in line with the Smrikva Bowl dream. They are in line with the message of the Ambassadors’ Olive Tree; they are in line with the values of friendship and love; they are in line with empathy. Love, friendship and empathy are all Cosmopolitan values per excellence, as far as people and humanity are concerned.
The relationship between Mufasa, Sarabi and Simba reminds me of parents and family love, but also the intergenerational responsibility.
Timon, Pumbaa and Simba relationship reminds me about love between friends. Pumbaa also make me think about empathy, intuition and loyalty. The relationship between Simba and Nola reminds me again about the importance of love.
Rafiki, the wise old baboo, with his many centuries old tree reminds me about the importance of knowledge and experience of the older. There are many other particular moments that every person on its own, based on his or her own life experience, discover by watching cartoon artworks.
...most of the character’s names in this cartoon have a particular meaning in Swahili language: Simba means “lion”; Nala means “gift”, and love is in many cultures one of the greatest gifts that people can receive and give during their life; Sarabi means “mirage”; Pumbaa means “dull-witted” or “stunned”; and Rafiki means “friend” :)...
Every children is born without knowing anything about life on this earth and it is the responsibility of every generation to understand and to learn, to preserve all that each of us is born with.
When Mufasa was explaining to Simba that is not easy to be the King… a good King should know that everything around us lives in a delicate equilibrium and with intelligence we should try to understand it and respect it. The intergenerational responsibility is the key to allow future generations to enjoy the beauty of life, the sunsets and the seasons of the earth.
To end this introductory comment I am pleased to repeat words of a Nobal Prize for Peace – guest speaker to one of Ambrosetti’s Young Leader Group meetings: “The future is always in a minority. Yet the history of the future is more important than the history of the past. It is for the old to remember the past. It is for the young to build the world of tomorrow.
Do it! You can build a world without wars. You can build a new humanity.”
It is worth bearing in our minds that Peace is always a delicate equilibrium and with intelligence we should try to understand it and respect it. Knowledge, human curiosity and will to learn are important. They are all parts of the civilization path.
Our Nobel Prize guest used in his note the statement: “Do it!” thus reminded me Yoda’s wisdom words when he shares his knowledge with young Jedi: “There is no try. Do or do not ” ;)
Long time ago I learned when people believe in the future there is future…. and when people do not beleive in the future there is no future.
World Peace Day is a good day to start the research of the Smrikva Bowl talents for the 2015 edition… and with this e-mail the selection process for the 20th annual Smrikva Bowl 2015 starts.
20th Smrikva Bowl will be held in Pula-Istria, Croatia, from (20th) 22nd till 27th of June 2015. Smrikva Bowl, as most of you may know, gathers under 10 tennis talents from all over the World…
When I think of Smrikva Bowl I always imagine it as a theater where every year we work hard to set the stage where the world’s talents can gather… Every year we gather very special kids, arriving from different cultures, having different dreams,...
We set the stage and later on they are in charge with their will, dreams and hard work… they are the ones who write the most different stories…
Smrikva Bowl is still very young tournament but I would like to think that some of these kids will write nice and inspiring stories in most different professional fields.
Year after year seems more and more likely that more than one senior Grand Slam Tournament will be conquered by Smrikva children… they already won every junior Grand Slam Tournament… and my dream and wishes goes beyond Grand Slam dream… being the SBA Day celebrated on a World Peace Day… and having mentioned in my letter the inspiring words of the Nobel Prize for Peace I am pleased to extend Grand Slam dream to more than one Nobel Prize for Peace dream…
I know that according to the statistics only few of the kids participating Smrikva Bowl will become top professional tennis players, but I like to think that they will make it in other professional fields they choose in their lives.
I will never know how many kids playing Smrikva Bowl are playing tennis because their parents would like them to become professional tennis players and how much of them play it because they enjoy the game.
What I do know is that any kind of sport can help kids in their growth and I also know that people that do excel in any field need full dedication and a lot of sacrifice to reach and master the excellence.
There is one part in Andre Agassi’s book that I liked a lot and I like to share it… it is about inspiration, faith and what does it mean to be a good coach… to have the right word in the right moment… and is about people who believe in other people and help them to write their life stories and to write their own… the following are Gil’s words when he accepted to help Agassi to inscribe his name on the sky of the Tennis Stars…
“I’m not one of those people who expresses or articulates feelings very well, but from now on, just know this: It’s on, man. It is on.
You know what I’m saying? We’are in a fight, and you can count on me until the last man is standing. Somewhere up there is a star with your name on it. I might not be able to help you find it, but I’ve got pretty strong shoulders, and you can stand on my shoulders while you’re looking for that star. You hear? For as long as you want. Stand on my shoulders and reach, man. Reach.”
In every life there are people that influence what we do and how we do it.
The Smrikva Bowl tennis talent gathering aims to inspire its Ambassadors to believe in their dreams and work hard to reach them.
Many people come to Smrikve with different expectations… not understanding that the result is not the key for being part of the Smrikva Bowl… and I need Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors’ help in explaining that Smrikva Bowl is… FUN and GAME… and to have fun in tennis… common sense and respect always come first…

I am pleased to recall that 19th Smrikva Bowl 2014 gathered top players from 35 countries and all the continents…
Since the tournament foundation in 1996, over 1470 top players from 64 countries played in the event… This year… was the first year that over 50% of participants accepted were ranked #1 in their countries…
Smrikva Bowl “more than tennis” idea… would not be explained… will always remain left to the interpretation of each Ambassador… of their feelings because in end they are the one who are writing the Smrikva Bowl story… my only wish is that huge percentage of the interpretation may match my dream too…
As I wrote above, in 2005 we started to plant old olive trees during the Ambassadors’ nomination ceremony… and there are 10 special olive trees in Smrikve with over 1000 names from all around the World…
In 2009 the cultural tourism guide “Istria from Smrikve” was published and this is a gift to the Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors and Smrikve friends… SBA are helping us in scouting talents around the world and our little Ambassadors also help us in spreading the word about Istria as cultural tourism destination worth visiting…
That same year, Smrikva Bowl participants started to bring a book about the culture of the place they are coming from thus we started to create Smrikva Bowl Library… from time to time we are also using the library as classroom for “La Bottega” di Smrikve students… donated book form a library of around 600 books from 54 countries…
Cosmopolite is another gift to Smrikve and our Ambassadors. It is dedicated to a book describing the importance of civilization for the talent development.
Many of you are our Ambassadors and I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the number of the accepted players will be 96 players (48 girls and 48 boys) and your help will be precious.
If you know a good tennis player born in 2005 that deserves to play Smrikva Bowl please let us know… and you are more than welcome to participate in helping to spread the word about Smrikva Bowl idea in your community.
In 2013 Smrikva Bowl kids took six first places at Junior Grand Slam Tournaments out of the 8 possible first places: Ana Konjuh (Junior Australian Open), Belinda Bencic (Junior Roland Garros), Gianluigi Quinzi and Belinda Bencic (Junior Wimbledon), Ana Konjuh and Borna Coric (Junior US OPEN)... “seeds of Legends of tomorrow”...
I am pleased to recall that for the first time there are two Smrikva Bowl players among the TOP 40 ATP and WTA: Dominic Thiem and Belinda Bencic…
… and for the end… being today World Peace Day… I wish Smrikva kids to continue to inspire by example other children… and wish some of them may make true during their living and competing Nelson Mandela – Madiba’s words when he noted that “Sport has the power to change the world, the power to inspire and the power to unite people in a way little else can – it is an instrument of peace.”

Tea Lukic, 20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 winner, visited Mouratoglou Tennis Academy for a week with her coach Patty Schnider
I just received a note from Tea’s father Milan about Tea’s stay in Paris at the end of August…
Tea Lukic won Smrikva Bowl this year… and thanks to the Smrikva Bowl victory had the opportunity to train for a week at Mouratoglou Tennis Academy (MTA) in Paris.
Since 2008, one of the very prestigious Smrikva Bowl prizes for the winners is the training week at Mouratoglou Tennis Academy. MTA is considered one of the top tennis academies in the World and Tea sent me some photos few days ago that I am pleased to share with Smrikva Bowl community.
On the picture above you can see Tea, and her coach Patty Schnider, a former tennis star… they spent a week together living as tennis professionals at MTA.
They both enjoyed the professional attention received at the Academy during their stay…
... and I believe Tea was also inspired to live some days as professional among professionals… this is what Patty believe too ;)...

Today we finished to collect grapes and started the 20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 - SMRIKVE Malvazija wine production
We just collected grapes and started 2015 Smrikve wine production… the wine collection of limited 160-200 bottles will be made as per tradition… and it will be donated to the families participating the 20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 edition…
As per tradition we will do our best to make good wine…
Smrikve Malvazija is thanks to the Smrikva Bowl Ambassadors spread in 64 countries and all the continents. Last year we created a limited collection of 160 bottles and never above 200 bottles… it is always a gift of our family to the Smrikva Bowl families and to our friends.
Wine and gastronomy are part of a culture and wine bottle that we give to every Smrikva Bowl family is part of our cultural gift that every year we are pleased to make to our guests coming from all around the World.
The wine making is the tradition in Smrikve since 1957…
The wine production is a passion for many Istrian families and my grandfather Mate was a great lower of wine and wine making. The first thing he made in 1957 when he settled in Smrikve was planting the vineyard.
Probably not many Smrikva Bowl readers do know the story how my grandfather agreed to take out a row of vineyard to create the space for the court where today the Smrikva Bowl finals are played.
My father, me and my Uncle continue the wine making tradition in Smrikve…
Several years ago I bought a vineyard close to the vineyard planted by my grandfather and today my father and me are doing our best to get the best from what Malvasia grapes can give.
The first phase of the processing the grapes started today…
We collected the grapes but also separated the juice of the rest to obtain the golden color that usually our Istrian Malvazija (Malmsey) wine has. Now for two days the fermentation will be blocked to allow the wine to start its transformation process cleaner than it is today after the collection.
In Smrikve we produce Istrian Malvazija (Malmsey) and during the Smrikva Bowl we use to give a bottle of wine to every family as a memory to their Smrikva Bowl. Probably one day this bottles might be something special if our kids continue to love tennis game and continue to write the Smrikva Bowl story with their results.
Wine as part of the culture…
In the regions where the wine is produced the wine was always part of the culture of the particular site. Also the wine we produce is part of the Smrikve tradition and this is the reason why we are pleased to give a bottle to every family that come to visit us for the Smrikva Bowl.
There is an old Istrian saying: ”Vino od loze i mliko od koze” and “Kruh je za tilo a vino je za dušu”. The translation from Croatian is difficult because you loose the feel of the language. Goat is the symbol of Istria and the meaning of the first saying would be: ”Wine from the grapevine and milk from the goat” and the meaning of the second would be: “Bread is for the body, wine is for the soul”.
With todays collection as I said we started the process of transforming the grapes into wine for the 20th Smrikva Bowl 2015 edition of Malvazija.
The main Istrian wines are: Malvazija, Terran, Refosc and Muscatel.
The glory of the Istrian wine dates back to over 2000 years ago…
For those who are not familiar with Istrian wine I am pleased to remined the reader that Istrian wine was considered one of the best in the Roman Empire, around 20 centuries ago, and was preferred by Livia Drusilla, also known as Iulia Augusta, the wife of the first Roman Emperor Augustus.
Livia Drusilla’s preferred wine was the Istrian wine Pucinum. Livia is considered one of the most influent women in the beginning of the Roman Empire era. It is not know what wine it was because todays wines were brought in Istria mostly by Venitians.
Todays Istrian Malvazija’s story is related with Serenissima… the Venetian Republic
The story of Istrian Malvazija, cultivated in Istria since the end of the 16th century, is fascinating and it relates to the Venetians.
At the beginning of the 15th century the Venetians occupied Peloponnesus in Greece. In the Peloponnesus region there is a town Monemvassia, also named Malvasia. From this town the Venetians started to import the wine into Venice and the other areas controlled by the Venetian Republic.
This wine was so successful and became so famous all over Europe that Venetians decided to plant huge vineyards on the biggest Greek island, Crete.
Between the 16th and 18th century Malvasia become the most important wine in Europe. In 1570 the Turks conquered Crete and Venetians decided to plant Malvasia vineyards in other areas that had friendly relations with Venice which, at that time, also included Istria.
In end Malvasia is in Istria since the above mentioned period while it is not known the sort of the wine that was preferred by the wife of the Emperor Augustus, Livia Drusilla – Julia Augusta.
Giacomo Casanova in his diary talks about another Istrian sort and another great wine…
Giacomo Casanova visited Vrsar several times and in his diary he describes a good wine Refosc and nice women… That Refosc could be Terran too because if you look at the grapes you will hardly note the difference and today Refosc is mostly cultivated in the Slovenian part of Istria while in other areas the dominant sort is Malvasia.
Another excellent wine can be found around Momjan area made of Muscatel sort.

Just attended Annual PTR Tennis Forum Meeting 2014 at Vavassori Tennis Academy - Palazzolo in ITALY
I participated last week end to the Annual PTR Tennis Forum at Vavassori Tennis Academy – Palazzolo, nearby Brescia in Italy… which was, as per tradition, full of interesting speakers…
Due to an extraordinary celebration event at Vavassori Academy we moved to a nearby indoor facility…

This year at the Annual PTR Tennis Forum there were six new guest speakers to me Marc Blouin, Carolina Blouin, Pietro Maria Picotti, Simone Bertino, Eduardo Silva and Donato Campagnoli...
The day started with Marc Blouin presenting high performance drills… Marc is a very experienced coach… and for many years has worked with Dennis Van der Meer and this year was nominated PTR International Master Pro…
His wife Carolina Blouin continued with a very interesting presentation related with College Tennis in the United States…
It was a very interesting presentation… explaining the whole US NCCA Division system…
...while watching the presentation I recalled some kids who took their racket in Smrikve when they were five years old… and today some of them completed College or are still in the US… Sandra, Deni, Maja, Nikolina,...
Also some other Smrikva Bowl kids come to my mind who played for College in the US such as Zvonimir, Filip, Saska, Indire,...
After Carolina… Luciano Botti, Marco Vecchi, Luigi Bertino, Luigi Casale, Pepe Rigamonti and Herbert Schnaubelt presented some new courses that will be introduced next year…

A nice Saturday morning at "La Bottega" di Smrikve with Silvia, Andjela, Dasha, Karlo and Max... :)
It was another nice tennis day in Smrikve enjoyed with developing talents…
Dasha, currently ranked #6 ETA under 14, who just won an ETA under 14 in Hungary, after winning couple of ETA under 16 in Bulgary and Austria… returned on the courts today… and proposed a nice game for the Group… a game they like to play in Russia… ;)
... and Andjela, Max, Karlo and Silvia listen carefully the rules…
... and soon after everybody started to enjoy the game :)...
Andjela was the youngest member of the Group enjoying the strokes of the olders…
... everybody played with everybody… rotating partners… and later on the whole class finished with the classic “King” game :)...
... after the class… the relax at La Bottega… can consist of the fact that the older need to be trained to help the younger in their growth… thus knowledge sharing at all the levels is another of the pillars of La Bottega philosophy :)… and I am glad Andjela stayed for an hour to relax helping Andrej’s growth the same as the others were helping her couple of hours before ;)...
... and the exercise continued on the seaside after the classroom… with aim to develop anchoring skills…

Andjela Skrobonja, Smrikva Bowl player, returned to "La Bottega" di Smrikve :)... among others, Karlo Suevich and Antonio Baric are spending some moments in Smrikve too...
Andjela Skrobonja won a year ago the National under 12 Championship in Serbia and started to compete in the under 14 age group… and she likes to visit us with her family and with her coach Lacika to enjoy some tennis time in Smrikve… :)

Matej Sabanov, 7th Smrikva Bowl 2002 semifinalist, currently ranked #670 ATP returned to Smrikve again :)
Matej Sabanov and his brother Ivan played Smrikva Bowl in 2002… and it was a pleasure to see them again this spring in Smrikve… they stayed in Smrikve to play “Istarska Rivijera” Futures…
We spent nice time together at the time at “La Bottega” library… and Matej recently won his first Futures and decided to return for little holiday in Smrikve…
... for couple of days I am enjoying to overview morning practice with Max... and is a great fun for everybody…
and just when Matej arrived… Lara had to go home… actually to Zlatibor mountain for another two weeks tennis camp experience… and the following pictures are from the last days with her group of friends… enjoying to serve a bit…

... during that visit to Rovinj we were lucky to reach Pula while giants were lighting... the shipyard cranes always reminded me of dinosaurs who lived in our area million of years ago… and for all of us was a nice moment :)
There is another talented boy who is visiting “La Bottega” di Smrikve during his vacation in Istria… it is probably one of the most talented kids in Croatia in his age group… born in 2006 with already impressive talent development… Fran Rakonic from Slavonia… it was a pleasure to meet him and spend some time on the court together…

I am pleased to share that Daria Solovyeva – Dasha was successful again last week… after her return to Smrikve from Bulgaria where she won a category 1 ETA U16 tournament...
Dasha went to Austria… where she won another category 2 ETA U16 tournament... I am looking forward to see her trophies upon her return to Smrikve ;)....
