KOZLJAK – VIRTUAL TOUR

There are no clear indications and directions on the road that will help you to arrive to the old Kozljak’s Castle. On the old road that goes from Labin to Plomin you have to take the direction towards Kozljak in the village Vozilici. After you pass the village Kozljak, continue to drive until the indication of Zagrad.

You have to follow the indications for Zagrad and turn right towards the hilltop. A narrow and steep road will bring you to Zagrad, made of few old houses. You have to pass over a railway and be careful because the passage is not protected.

In Zagrad you just park the car and continue on walking. You will see a country road that goes towards south direction and the wood. It pass nearby a nice stone wall that will be located on your left side.

Following this road, after three hundred meters, always on your left side, you will find the old town gate and the walls.

The town walls around the main gate are well preserved. Once you cross the gate on your right side you will see an old house that was a defence and guardian house of this fortified village.

This is the only house that has been preserved in the village. There are many nice stairways all around the village and many nice plants.

The stairways on the left side goes towards a ruins of a house that was probably inhabited until the end of the 20th century. If you take a look towards the top of the hill you will see the ruins of a church and the walls of the old castle on the top of the hill.

If you take the stairs that are in front of the main gate, on top of the stairs, you will see on your right side, in the middle of the plants, the well of the village. Following the stairs you will go to the upper level of the village where the ruins of the Church of St. Andrew are located.

There are other stone stairways on the left side of the church that will bring you on the top of the hill where the old feudal castle was located. From the stairs you will have a beautiful view towards the Cepic field and the central part of Istria.

The castle is only 184 meters above sea level but the view is fantastic.
