Visnjan – Visignano: “Is today known and worth visiting for its planetarium activities... and for POLETTI family..."
The Second World War was a very painful experience for the Istrian population and many innocent Istrians, both Slav and Latin, died during that war.
After the second World War Visnjan became part of Yugoslavia (Croatia). There were three agreements between Yugoslavia and Italy which established that Istria would become a part of Yugoslavia: Paris Agreement of 1947, London Memorandum of 1954 and the Osimo Agreement reached in 1975. In the first decade after the Second World War many Istrians, especially those living in towns and villages that for centuries were part of the Venice Republic, decided to leave Istria.
In 1991 with the fall of Yugoslavia and the founding of the Republic of Croatia, the internal republic boundaries were recognised as the state boundaries and Visnjan is today part of Croatia.
In 2013 Visnjan became part of the European Union. You can not change the past but you can try to learn from it. The main aim of the European Union founders was to build a system that could avoid future wars and future refugees in Europe as I explain in COSMOPOLITE.
POLETTI FAMILY... SIX GENERATIONS... (VISNJAN - VISIGNANO)
Few weeks before I visited Mr. Peter (Piero) POLETTI at his property nearby Visnjan (Visignano) I received a home visit at Smrikve from Discover Istria from Smrikve Linked In Group friend living in Holland, Mr. Winfried Van der Bom. He helped me to organize the meeting with Mr. Pier POLETTI … Istria and Visnjanan are today his second home and he was here on holiday at the time with his family…
During his visit we had a long chat and I was explaining to him the second phase of Istria from Smrikve development that envisage the networking of various stories of the families that are contributing to preserve and develop the eno-gastronomic cultural heritage in the Region… and I shared with him some nice stories I’ve learned visiting families around Istria that are already described in Istria from Smrikve…
He listened to me with attention and said… “you know Mio there is a person I know in Visnjan that fit perfectly your second part of the book… it is Mr. Peter POLETTI… he is an extraordinary person and extraordinary wine maker… and as far as I know he is among those winemakers contributing to the last Istrian wine Renaissance and you should meet him“…
I was happy to hear that suggestion from Mr. Winfried because Mr. POLETTI was on my list of families I wished visiting.
On his departure he promised to me that in first occasion ha meets with Peter Poletti he will share my story with him...
Just few days after I received an e-mail confirming that Mr. POLETTI will be pleased to welcome me on his property just to give him a call and agree the date of the visit…
