Visnjan – Visignano: “POLETTI's family and wines... worth visitng and tasting..."
While tasting delicate Rossella… we also spoke about Giacomo Casanova’s diary where he wrote that he enjoyed in Vrsar (Orsera) the Istria Refosc wine… and Mr. POLETTI confirmed to me one thing that Casanova could have been drinking Teran wine because the grapes are so similar but genetically it is proved that the difference among two sorts exists and in Istria Refosc is cultivated more in the Slovenian part of Istria…
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT VISITING POLETTI’s FAMILY WINE CELLAR...
Mr. Piero POLETTI is a person making excellent wine with great energy… but for 14 years he was also the touristic guide of Istria… and what I learned is that the way he does wine is the same way he approached the touristic guide job and I enjoyed his knowledge that reflects so many books written on Istria… to me it was a real pleasure and I recommend it to people that have interest in discovering Istria not to avoid the taste of POLETTI’s wine and Mr. Pier’s knowledge… it is a perfect combination of wine and cultural heritage…
For those who would love to stay for few nights in Visnjan at family POLETTI property, on the ground floor of their family house, they have an apartment with roofed terrace from which you can enjoy the view of the western Istrian coast from Novigrad (Cittanova) to Vrsar (Orsera)… while if you are an active holiday enthusiast you can hire two mountain-bikes or you like walking in the woods, picking up mushrooms or asparagus Markovac and its neighborhood is the right place for you.
I am pleased to invite you to visit POLETTI’s wines website but also I would like to close this story with a nice poem I found on POLETTI’s brochure written by Mate Balota that I mentioned also in the text above:
Mi smo dica sunca I vina crlenega
I mora velikega i juga teple krvi
Kad ulika nan rodi, to dar nan je od
boga
Kad loza nan ponese, na svitu mi smo prvi.
