Rabac - Porto Albona: "Villa Annette... an experience of Istrian - Mediterranean creative cousine... an experience of cultural and gastronomy trails..."

Let me give you some more hints about Villa Annette… and what you could expect during your stay there…

Among others, Doris and Vladimir traveled the World for a decade and one of their dreams was to allow visitors to taste the excellence of their Istrian homeland has to offer thus they created the first class creative food restaurant offering dishes based on Istrian & Mediterranean Cuisine…

It is bordering with cousine art...

Villa Annette also offers you conventional Istrian and Mediterranean menus (fish, sea food, meat & other specialties), special Mediterranean menus for vegetarians, children's menu and during the summer you can enjoy also the barbeque offer.

In the silence of the olive trees Villa Annette boutique gastronomy offer will whisper you a story of food, wine, olive oil, truffles coming from the nearby land, the Kvarner Gulf shrimps… and if you listen carefully you can learn more about culture and heritage…

Having traveled the world they made their best for their guests not to miss any of the modern comforts…  parking, reception, elevator, swimming-pool with jacuzzi, internet, romantic dinners around the swimming-pool, air-conditioning, direct internet access arranged in three types of accommodations: Classic Suite, Comfort Suite and Family Suite.

The hotel is open during the whole year and as I say it is a hotel not just for tourists but for travelers. A boutique hotel for those who would like to discover and enjoy the heritage of the place they are visiting.

During your stay you will be allowed to learn more about eastern coast of Istria and through Slow Food Weekend and Istrian wine tour in 5 days Villa Annette staff via wine and olive oil trails help their guests to discover important cultural and gastronomy sites of Istria.

Their Slow Food weekend is based on seasonal ingredients. The idea is to feel the taste of Istria & Mediterranean dishes created by Villa Annette’s chef, accompanied with the best local wines. Villa's Sommelier will guide you via wine through tales of food, wine and customs…

I enjoyed few stories Mr. Vladimir shared with me that day and I am pleased to recall a nice truffles story…

Istria has truffles in two geographical parts… the one is located in northwestern part of Istria and is linked with “Parenzana” railroad… the other zone is not far away from Villa Annette and is linked to a former Cepic lake…

In October starts the season of white truffle which Villa Annette take from the nearby Cepic field and as most of the olive oil lovers knows that is also the month when olive oil is made… Mrs. Doris and Mr. Vladimir are extending their passion into olive oil fields thus you can already taste their own olive oil being in Villa Annette

But let me share a nice tale about Cepic field and the truffles story Mr. Vladimir told me...

The Cepic field back in 1930 it was a lake. The lake was drained by Mussolini government in order to turn the lake into the fields thus to allow the production of wheat, corn vegetables, etc...

In two years the lake was drained but to avoid the damage created by the strong wind blowing from Plomin Bay, the authorities of the time planted the poplars which grow fast and help to stop the wind…

What the authorities did not planned at the time was that the roots of the poplars will become the habitat of truffles... :)
